Question 1

I just bought this. I am surprise at the negative reviews its working great. however my q is where does the condensation go? I do not see a pan that removes water, nor has any water come out of the condensation drain hose

I have owned this unit for over a year and have fluctuating conditions as far as the drainage goes. In some cases it would fill up everyday and in others it wouldn't fill up for over a month. What I ended up doing was setting the unit on a tray to collect the water and leaving it with the drainage plug removed. for a while I had to empty the tray out everyday but it suddenly stoped producing water. Now the unit hasn't produced water in over 4 months but the performance hasn't dropped. Also at first I had to tilt the unit in order for the water to come out. The tray was also to prevent leakage out of the bottom of the unit which is a common issue with this unit.

Is this air conditioner a brand new unit?

The one I purchased was. I have no way of knowing about any others Newegg sells. So far, Newegg has been reputable.  I have had my Soleus for about 2 months. It is adequate for one small-medium sized bedroom with the door closer when temperatures are in the high 80s to low 90s.
I was discouraged when I read the Consumers Report reviews of portable a/c units. I guess I have to agree with them. Their output is not as good as a window unit. Still, it does the job and I suffer a lot less than I did before i purchased mine.  I know this is not what you asked, but I thought I'd just volunteer my personal experience.

One thing I had not realized is that there is a water reservoir on the bottom of the unit. I find that I must drain it after 2-3 nights of fairly heavy use.  No big deal, but something to keep in mind.

How long is the hose for expulsing the hot air?

It is roughly 5 feet long. ..the longer the exhaust hose...the more chance for the room to pick up the residual heat from the hose.   This system works well...but between you me and the fence post...I have 3 port a/c units because of a new condo with vaulted ceilings...if you have a window that allows for a window a/c...I would go with that one.  Also...the more btu's the better - always strive for more than your sq footage.  Our friend lent us a window a/c to test and it does an amazing job on the downstairs with an energy saver button built in.

Has anyone found a way to reduce the noise level (a disturbing gurgle throb) that (my) unit makes consistently when cooling?
    Since the cost of shipping it back and awaiting an uncertain
satisfaction seems more hassle than I care to deal with, I'll live
with my decision to buy this product.
     Has anyone had a good experience with the Soleusair guarantee of satisfaction they'd care to share?

Yes,  That awful (terrible) gurgling noise is the condensation, being thrown around by the fans in the unit, that has not evaporated.  Since I had always had to drill a small whole hole in my Window units to alleviate this problem, I immediately knew what it was.   I simply put a board on a small footstool and set the unit on the first board.  Then I placed another 3/4 inch thick board only under the front casters to promote gravity to occur faster and let the condensation constantly drain through a 5/8 inch Extended tube, I purchased from a local hardware store.   I was having to get up in the middle of the night, as the noise got very disturbing, to manually empty the unit as directed in the manual.   Now I even drilled a small whole to lead the water to the basement where our whole house unit drains.  The unit cools more efficiently and is extremely quiet, and allows us not to have to run the whole-house unit all the time.

HOW MANY AMPS OF POWER DOES THIS UNIT USE?  THANKS

The manual lists this unit as 8,000 BTU running on 6.7 amps.
It cools all right but I would definitely not plan to use it in a
sleeping situation as mine (at least) makes an unacceptable 
level of noise.  The cost of returning it to the manufacturer plus
the possibility that they would send me an equally noisy unit
leaves me listing this among the bad decisions that I'll learn to
live with.  Caveat emptor.

Can the hose fit a basement window? Does it have a bucket that needs to be emptied

The hose attaches to a narrow piece that nicely fits in a window, mybe 4" high that fits in a window. It has a reserve container that hols 1.5 liters, but I have not had to empty it yet. It has a drain tube that you can empty it into a flat pan or something. ll of the parts are included.

could you use this unit in a 3 car garage?

Work yes, but I doubt it would keep a 3 car garage cooled.  If you keep the doors closed  all the time, and it's well insulated ... Then maybe, but it's made for a 175 sq ft room.

Do I have to vent it?

Accepted Answer

Not really, but it will make whatever is behind it hot.
You will end up with cool air in the front and hot air in the back.
I ended up venting hot air (exhaust) into attic.

Yes. Otherwise you will be blowing hot air in the same room you are trying to cool.
