Will static from me be removed if I touch the mat?

You and the ESD-sensitive part must be at the same potential.  The resistive mat accomplishes that by dissipating the charge between you and the part.  Your wrist strap must be attached to the conductive (resistive) part of the mat to complete the circuit.  That's what the button is for.  The underside of the mat is usually an insulator (non-conductive).

Question 2

Both sides of the mat are ESD safe?

I'm going to say no, both sides are not ESD safe. Since the alligator clip is attached to one side of the mat, it would be a bit awkward to flip it over and use the other side. I believe the side the clip is attached to is the conductive top layer and the other side the non-conductive bottom layer.

Does this mat go under the computer as a static insulator?
Will it reduce or eliminate static charges to the computer?

I used it to build a desk top computer. While you work on the mother board and install the components you place everything on the mat to prevent accidental static charges to the circuit boards. I don't think it would do much under a computer that is already built since you probably have rubber feet on the case now.

I haven't used mine in a while but I'd say about 6 millimeters thick, give or take 1mm

I may be interested in using your anti-static products. My site has assembly line type work were team members are often standing in the same place for extended periods of time. Just wondering placing an anti-fatigue mat underneath a anti-static mat would reduce or eliminate the properties of the anti-static mat? Often times the anti static mats we purchase are not thick enough to provide comfort for our team members so we place anti-fatigue mats under the anti-static mat. Is this an acceptable practice, or should it be avoid if additional anti-fatigue mats underneath reduces the anti-static properties? Also, what is the thickest dimension of an anti-static mat that you offer?

The grounding connection itself is what provides the protection.
I *believe* it should not matter what other mats are placed below it.
