This monitor does not have built-in speakers.  Audio capability can be added, but requires a roll of duct tape and a set of small computer speakers.

Yes. I bought it to use as a second monitor with Windows 7 and it works great.

You cannot plug speakers directly into the monitor. However, you can plug your speakers into your computer, and it will be the exact same as if you could into the monitor.

The unit does NOT have a VESA mount although I understand there are different production runs of the same model.

Did anyone have a problem putting it together? I put mine together and it wobbles left and right.

Physically mine is fine with no excessive movement.  However I use this monitor alongside another acer 21.5" of the same resolution and I find this monitor's colors to be slightly less vibrant.

the screen is flat - its easy on the eyes and I have nothing bad to say about it - it is well with the price I paid for it.

I don't have a laptop but I can give you general info. The monitor comes with both dvi and vga cords. It does not have hdmi. I bought an adapter and am running three of these monitors in surround mode and they are great so far. Very sharp picture and guick refresh.
