Pros:
When it is working, it is great memory. The heat spreader is a pretty blue.
Cons:
In order to get this to work with my ASUS P5KC I had to download the Asus overclocking utility so that I could change the voltage. The memory would not post at the board's default which is 1.5V. In the specified range of 1.7 - 1.8V it will post and Vista will begin to load before a blue screen of death occurs. At 2.0V it will crash after a couple days, which is almost acceptable. At 1.9 V it will crash after about five hours of use. At 2.2 and 2.1 volts it will crash in a couple hours.
Overall Review:
This is on a system that has been stable with Kingston valueram for over half a year. The specs on this were the closest to the discontinued valuram that I could find. The latency was 7 instead of 8 and the voltage, as mentioned, was 1.7 instead of 1.5. Both are 1333 Mhz DDR3 memory which this board is supposed to support.
This is my second stick of this stuff, newegg was very nice with the RMA on the first one. I never thought to overclock my system on the first stick. I'm out of ideas on how to get mushkin to work in my system. I guess whenvever I get a few more dollars I'll just get some more valuram. I guess I could use this stick for a high-tech keyring; the heat spreader is very showy.
I would try to use it just because I paid money for it, but it is just too frustrating to try to use my computer and loose work and unfinish games when I get a random memory error every two or three hours.
