A nice card for HTPC 12/02/2009
This review is from: MSI Radeon HD 4350 512MB GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card R4350-MD512H
Pros:
Fanless design
relatively easy installtion
delivers 1080P video. Excellent picture quality.
Low price
HDMI audio quality is good. (This card has an audio driver of itself)
I don't use this card for playing games, but for movies and internet videos it is perfect. Overall video quality is very good. I have been using the HDMI port for the video and audio. Overall I am very pleased with this card.
Cons:
The drivers on the CD are not latest. Once you install drivers from CD, updating them with latest drivers from website is pain. The catalyst control panel kept crashing. I completely uninstalled everything and then installed just the driver from the MSI website. I am not using any other software that comes with the CD.
The heat sink is very thick (naturally). That covers the PCI-Express 1X slot near the PCI-Express 16x slot on my motherboard.
Overall Review:
While booting my motherboard does not recognize this card and outputs on the on board video, so I do not see the BIOS messages while booting. I had to use two video cables on two inputs of the monitor while installing. But this is not the card issue. Also I use the HDMI out so I get to see the output only after the drivers are loaded. I am using it with Windows XP. Not tested on linux yet.
