Excellent System! 04/22/2010
This review is from: Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite Holiday Bundle w/Lego Batman & Pure
Pros:
Bought mine from Newegg last November and it is a confirmed Jasper model.
Standard 120 GB HD.
Awesome Black Friday deal gave you a $50 gift card.
HDMI out.
2 Free Games to start off.
Robust, well-built.
Cons:
The DVD drive is easily the loudest thing on the console. NONE of the other components make any audible sound (i.e. cooling devices).
No HDMI cable is included, Only standard analog RCA composite (Video, Left and Right audio).
Can't install any alternate Operating Systems w/o hardware modification.
Overall Review:
No idea why people who don't own this particular version are posing bad reviews on this Xbox's page but, this version has the latest updates to remedy previous problems with RRoD. I had it lock up on me once during the burn-in phase (first 200 hours of use) but its been flawless ever since.
Xbox live gold memberships for 12 months can be had for $30 or so and the networking quality is superior to PS3's freebie system (both have pros and cons).
I have a 24” monitor that accepts DVI inputs so all I had to do is buy a cheap HDMI to DVI cable. After doing some research, I found out you could pop off the plastic surrounding the RCA Composite cable (the end that plugs into the system) and use the sound from there while having the HDMI cable in at the same time for Hi-def video. Works like a charm.
