Great 10/28/2010
This review is from: Dynatron A6 77mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler
Pros:
It cools great when cranked up.
28C-31C idle temps w/ Opteron 6128x2
In a rack this cooler does what it is supposed to do.
Note: SEE OTHER THOUGHTS ABOUT FAN SPEED CONFIGS!
Cons:
Not for a workstation because it is very loud.
(to be expected though)
Odd pulsing sound @ 4500rpm+
(I would give it -1 star but the pulsing noise doesn't effect performance.)
The selection of G34 CPU coolers is terrible everywhere.
Overall Review:
When using this with Asus KGPE-D16 w/ 2x 6128 the "generic" setting for fan speed control would let the CPU get over 50C without running the fan higher then 1200rpm.
When either using a controler or bios speed throttling and bumping it to 4000+ the cpu would idle in the high 20C to low 30C.
When the fan runs higher then about 4500RPM it makes an annoying and odd pulsing sound.
I tried using the 80mm to 120mm nexus fan adapter.
(the adapter needed to be modified for screw holes to line up to the 77mm heatsink)
When using a 68cfm 1200rpm 120mm fan the CPU would reach 50C @ idle. I will Try a higher RPM/CFM 120mm to see if it helps. I am trying to quiet this cooler down for a office environment.
