This review is from: YAMAHA 5.1-Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver RX-V367
Pros:
good looks, good price, good sound. Nice audio presets. Handles just about every input possible, except...
Cons:
This receiver is billed as playing my iPod ("Want your iPod to play greater audio? Solve all your problems with the Yamaha’s RX-V367" - right of the Newegg page).
But I can't play my iPod through the AUX jack on the front, which is shown as specifically for a "portable audio player" that looks a whole lot like an iPod. I plug mine in and NADA. What am I missing here, folks? Is an iPod not a "portable audio player"?
For an additional $70 (30% of the receiver price!), you can get a special iPod dock that allows charging and remote control. Like all iPod accessories, this is WAY, WAY overpriced! I'm happy to set my on shuffle and walk away and let it play for 24 hours on its battery.
Overall Review:
Why are almost all receivers made with button labels that are virtually impossible to read without very high ambient light and, perhaps, a magnifying glass? Granted, most of the controls are accomplished with the remote and the resulting configuration shown on the perfectly clear LED front panel display, but the buttons are very difficult to read.
