This review is from: Rosewill R-WO-H01 Electric Wine Opener (battery not included)
Pros:
The combination stand/foil cutter is nice and gives the overall system a low profile compared to solutions with built-in batteries and wall-chargers. I'm using eneloops, which seem to work well so far. The translucent bottom makes it easy and somewhat entertaining to see the progress of the cork.
Cons:
The openings for the batteries were too small. I tried several different types and just wouldn't slide in without excessive force. I managed to get one in, then realized it would be nearly impossible to get it out. (Doh!) After 20 minutes of shaking I gave up and then managed to pull out the battery by grabbing the positive end with a pair of very small needle nose pliers. If the first battery I pushed in hadn't been positive side up, it might have wound up stuck there forever.
I didn't pay a lot for this and didn't' want the hassle of returning it, so I pulled out the Dremel and went to work widening the openings. I was surprised by how much plastic I had to remove before getting a good fit. As shipped, it wasn't even close.
N.B.: I'm NOT recommending the above as an acceptable solution. Clearly, it voids any warranty and makes your product non-returnable. I'm including these details just to give a sense of how far the product was from spec.
Overall Review:
It was hard deciding on an egg count for this. If it arrived with proper sized battery openings, it would have been a 5. If I didn't have the resourcefulness to use the Dremel, it would have been a 0. I settled on 3.
