Nice Card, great sound 03/11/2011
This review is from: ASUS Only Card.No Other Accessories Xonar D2 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Ultra Fidelity Sound Card with Complete Dolby/DTS Sound Technologies
Pros:
Great sound, color-coded LED inputs make it easy to see what you are doing when making changes, easy installation. I am very happy with the sound both through my Monitor S2's and my Sennheiser HD250's. Music sounds great, as do movies.
The effects (although I prefer not to use) perform well.
Cons:
When sound sources go silent, there is usually a little problem with some noise, but quickly fades.
I am not a fan of the enhanced settings (reverb, etc.), but not because they aren't good, just I prefer not to affect the sound. As I say above, they actually work really well.
Absolutely no technical support, as with all Asus products. I have several components from Asus, and all have worked great, luckily--but whenever I have had minor issues there is absolutely no help whatsoever, as well as a website I found cumbersome to join and navigate.
Overall Review:
In my opinion, it's a gamble buying Asus mostly due to an apparent lack of support. So far I have not had any reason to stop purchasing products from them because of the quality of the products, but that may change once something fails.
