5 out of 5 eggs Hard drive space 05/14/2012

This review is from: AGPtek XH12 320GB Internal HDD/ Hard Drive Disk Kit for Xbox 360 Slim 360E

Pros:

Decent price compared to regular 320GB drives, Microsoft seems to not be as affected by the HD shortage.

Cons:

Forced to use MS drives or hack a WD to format/fit. Not a big deal considering above.

Overall Review:

I don't own a drive (yet) for my Xbox, but to clear up misconceptions. Manufacturers rate drives per thousand intervals. In other words, a Megabyte is 1,000,000 bytes. 320GB would be 320,000,000,000 bytes. We use MB/GB/TB for convention. Some systems report this in multiples of 1024. Xbox included. That means 320GB is actually reported as 298GB. It isn't a scam just a difference of how the size is represented. It's actually industry standard to use multiples of thousands and not the binary (1024) alternative.

To be fair, if the OS did report it as 320GB, a file that normally reports as 4GB would be reported instead as 4.3GB. The same percentage of the drive would still be used either way they display the sizes.
