Motherboard from the future 07/28/2012
This review is from: ASUS P8Z68-V LX LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
Pros:
A motherboard that includes USB 3.0, 8 channel audio, Crossfire ability, UEFI BIOS, Ivy bridge compatibility, onboard HDMI, DVI, and VGA outputs, aftermarket cooling space, SATA 6.0, and being UNDER 150 United States Dollars is a great board for a budget. The UEFI BIOS is a major upgrade from the complicated DOS BIOS. SATA 6.0 that can make use of Solid State Drives. Ivy bridge compatibility. USB 3.0 is a exceptional addition. Great for builds that are standard and on a budget.
Cons:
Somewhat picky with Ram, check the manufacturer page for Ram it will save you a headache. Ironically installing the I/O shield was the most difficult part of the build. Razor sharp edges on the shield and the left over aluminum from the output port areas made lining up the ports frustrating. Second PCIe 2.0 slot runs at 4x speed but knew that when purchasing it. Just nit picks really.
Overall Review:
A 120 USD motherboard with more features than a board worth 250 USD is quite a deal. Strange dimensions but not really a pro or con. The black/second PCIe 2.0 slot is at 4x speed. Which means it will run slower than the Blue/first PCIe 2.0 slot at 16x speed. This Crossfire is primarily designed to take off heat from the first GPU. All in all this board is amazing for the price. Don't be fooled to buy a cheap motherboard with little to no expandability, this board will give you more expandability in the long run.
