Great basic ATX board. 10/15/2012
This review is from: ECS IC780M-A2 (V1.0A) AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
Pros:
Full ATX, legacy support (PS/2, IDE, serial), 4xDDR3, nice build quality, (mostly) solid-state caps
Cons:
Odd layout (P4 near rear I/O shield), some ram compatibility issues, 2 USB headers & 2 rear USB ports, 4xSATA2, no SATA3 or USB3.0
Overall Review:
I've had this board for a few months now and it's been very nice. My build is comprised of parts I've gathered over time from dead machines and upgrades (as a PC tech). My only problem has been some issues with RAM; passing Memtest just fine but locking up on occasion in Windows. The RAM works fine in other systems but this one doesn't like it. Once I found some memory that made the board happy, it's been perfect. I wouldn't mind having some more USB headers (as I have a card reader and 4-port internal hub installed) and maybe some more SATA ports (2xDVD, 1xHDD, 1xeSATA) but I can make due... All in all I'm pleased. The board seems to be of very nice quality, much better than I recall ECS ever being!
