This review is from: iomega Prestige Desktop 1TB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive 34275
Pros:
I have owned this drive for around 2 years now and I have yet to notice any serious performance issues since purchase. I use this drive to store all of my data aside from installations, so it is constantly in use, but I have not noticed any significant data transfer issues.
Cons:
There is one annoying issue (other than the flashing but that can be useful) and that is with permissions. I have full admin permissions but for some reason this drive will constantly tell me that I do not have permission to access and I have to retrieve the files through force. Other times It works fine with full access, I don't understand why it started to do this. I am sure the issue is on my end.
Cooling also seems to be a bit on the low end, but I do use it constantly as I would an internal so that could be why. There are things that can be done to solve this so that is not too much of a problem when I am not on the move.
Overall Review:
I would recomend this drive for anyone who needs to quickly backup their files or store files for when they are on the move since the drive is pretty cheap and you can find it at a number of store locations.
My computer recognizes this device as:
Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 USB Device (1000 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II)
which I verified with AIDA64 Extreme. Although other people say it uses a Seagate? I am not too sure.
