Up in smoke after 24 hours 07/22/2013
This review is from: XFX Core Edition Radeon HD 7850 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card FX-785A-ZNL4
Pros:
Worked great while it worked. Feels sturdy, looks good in the case.
Cons:
I played CS:GO with no issues for about four hours one night, happy with my purchase I went to bed. Woke up, decided to give it a whirl in Metro 2033 with all the settings up on DX11. It worked great. Got good fps, everything was fine. Then I hear a pop, see and smell smoke, and the system turned off. Afraid for my system I ripped out the power and pulled the card. One of the chips has popped and there's scorch marks around it. System is fine, but the card is toast. Awesome. Not sure if it's a bad card, or I just got a bad unit. Seeing the reviews of other people who have had problems with it not posting, or losing video, I'm going to guess it's a bad design. I took a gamble when I bought it, thinking maybe it was just people who didn't know what was up, but it looks like it really is just a bad product.
Overall Review:
A real shame. XFX has always been my go-to brand because I've never had issues like this with them. I have two 9600GTs from XFX I've used in SLI for years and years with no issues. Then this thing dies in five hours of game-time. Oh well.
