Freakishly slow with VHDs 07/26/2013
This review is from: Silicon Power Touch 835 32GB Waterproof USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model SP032GBUF2835V1T
Pros:
Small size & lightweight
Cons:
While I was able to transfer files to and from the drive quickly enough, that was not the purpose behind the purchase. The purpose of the purchase was to get a flash drive large enough to hold two VHDs and to run the VHDs from this drive. The sad part is, my old 8GB DataTravelers perform a great deal faster than this stick.
When running my VHDs off the DataTravelers, they were slow in comparison to my external HDD, yet I could do work. However, with this data stick, I want to pull my hair out with how freakishly sluggish it is. I am talking I double click an icon and wait nearly 2 minutes for it to start to do anything.
Overall Review:
I should have researched this a bit more. That is my fault.
Side Note: For those that do not know what a VHD is, it is a Virtual Hard Drive that contains a separate OS from what is booted with. I use them to keep my development software off my main machine.
