This review is from: ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990X + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
Pros:
It works.
Cons:
Runs my memory at 1600 mhz instead of 1833 mhz. I ran ASUS's automatic overclocking software, and it actually reduced the memory speed to 1439 mhz! Not cool asus.
The memory contains SPD information on running at 1833 mhz. However, the bios on this board is incapable of loading any SPD but the first. Instead, it wants you to enter the SPD information manually. And instead of using abbreviations (like "tCL") it fully spells out each field, using nonstandard terminology. The abbreviations are only mentioned on the screen where the SPD information is reported. Therefore, there is no way to know what values you need to enter. Not cool asus.
Overall Review:
Got Windows 8 for this system, and really hate it. With the new FX-8350, it is no faster than my old 6-core 1090T, perhaps because 32-bit apps run slower on a 64-bit OS. Stick with Windows 7.
