Newegg.com - Computer Parts, Laptops, Electronics, HDTVs, Digital Cameras and More!

Pros:

Dell's computers are very reliable! I used their Latitude D630/D830 enterprise laptops and Optiplex 755/760/780 (as well as Precision 4700) for years without a single problem! No doubt this PC is as reliable as others.

Cons:

Honestly - I do not have cons in regards to the product itself. For the price is it almost if you get it from online auction, but with HDD/RAM and I/O peripherals.

Overall Review:

However I do have a complaint about selling techniques used by some Newegg sellers, namely Blair Technology Group. They must provide more information about the product, than they currently do. I would really like to see the model number, next to Optiplex and Athlon X2, and also memory consideration. Well, I guess it is Dell Optiplex 740 (as there are only two Optiplex models with AMD CPUs, and Optiplex 580 supports DDR3 only). As far as 1.8GHz AMD Athlon 64 x2 CPU goes - I am still wondering what that is, because slowest processor listed by Dell (search the web for "Optiplex 740 technical guide" and open first link on Dell's website, that ends with "optix_740_tech_guide.pdf") is 2.1GHz. No way this PC is as good as original... About memory config - it is unclear if PC has 4x512MB, 2x1GB, or 1x2GB. With first config upgrade means "buy all new RAM". With second - "if 4GB is enough, then buy 2x1GB sticks", and with last one it means "Hallelujah! Finally some businesses think about upgrade positively!"

Bottom line: please provide more info. People, who needs a computer for Internet browsing only, will buy this computer anyway, but tech savvy folks (on Newegg there are tons of them) will be thankful for it and may actually buy it to upgrade! Because according to the same Optiplex 740 Tech Guide this PC supports quad-core CPUs up to AMD Phenom X4 9600B Processor (2.3 GHz). Considering the price it may be very good deal, if someone wants to get their hands on it...

Thank you for your attention.
