1 out of 5 eggs Great until warranty expired 11/02/2013

This review is from: ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros:

Worked great until literally 6 months after the warranty period ended.

Cons:

I ran this board for 3.5 years with two 2 gb sticks of RAM. I decided to upgrade to four 2 gb sticks of RAM and found out that the computer would not post to BIOS with RAM installed in the B2 DIMM slot.

Overall Review:

I tried everything to fix this problem. I updated the bios, I changed the settings in the BIOS, I cleared the CMOS, and I checked my motherboard for shorts. Nothing worked. I called ASUS and asked for help. They sounded like a broken record. All they told me was that the board was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. They wouldn't repair it at a lower cost, they wouldn't RMA the board, they wouldn't even send me a coupon for another ASUS motherboard. They were completely unwilling to help me. In short, do not buy this board unless you only plan to use it during the warranty period. The only egg this product gets actually goes to NEWEGG. NEWEGG gave me a great price on this board and delivered it to me lightening quick. Go NEWEGG!!!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry that your motherboard is having issues with memory. Try installing one of your original DIMM into the B2 DIMM slot. Does the system POST then? If it doesn't, this, as you know already, may indicate a faulty DIMM slot. Although you may be out of warranty, we could still repair the motherboard; however, a standard repair cost will apply. If you are interested in setting this up, please let me know through email, and I will be happy to arrange it. Your reference number for this case is 3129132.
