TRENDnet powerline adapter 01/03/2014
This review is from: TRENDnet TPL-401E Powerline 500 AV Adapter Up to 500Mbps
Pros:
Works. If you change the default password, read the manual about syncing all the units. The house has whole house surge protection, units worked.
Cons:
Bought a TPL-401E & TPL-405E, one or both failed within 3 months. Trying Trendnet for replacement.
Overall Review:
Generally works well. Actually bought these to bypass the Alienware 17xr4 wireless card; which Alienware has said that it's my problem to resolve. The powerline ethernet worked fine in this case. (actually, faster than the dual band N).
I have noted times that the powerline units get glitchy if you pump a lot of data over these units for days to months.
If you install these to support hardware which talks to each other (Tivos, Samsung TVs, etc); the hardware on the powerline net will appear to be on it's own net. And may not appear on "other" nets, i.e. like an existing ethernet. If so you may need to put all the linkable hardware on the powerline net.
Unlikely they will work with other manufactureres equipment.
