Pros:
#1 - It should be known that mechanical hard drives WILL DIE at some point, so sometimes its truly the luck of the draw.
#2 - Buy a hard drive based on what you want to do with it.
With those points above I have bought 5 WD Green drives (3x3TB and 2x2TB) over the course of 3 years and not one has died yet. I use them for data backup, and also for streaming HD recorded videos from my 1080p Camcorder on my i5 HTPC. The playback is perfect.
Cons:
Not a con to me, but could be to some: When the drive go to sleep it takes 1-3 secs for it to spin up. But honestly most drives would probably do the same.
