This review is from: EDUP 2 x 6dBi 2in1 Client / AP Mini 300M 300Mbps USB WiFi Wireless N LAN Network Adapter 802.11 n/g/b EP-MS1552
Pros:
It works well with BOTH Windows 7 and Linux. Works fine with Ubuntu 13.10 and Fedora 20 without the need for making a new kernel.
Cons:
The latest drivers for Windows 7 cannot be downloaded from the MediaTek website. The website is a joke and a corporate embarassment.
It is a large adapter, but if you need range, that is the price that you have to pay.
Overall Review:
I bought this for the RT5372 chipset. This is really good hardware had is hobbled by bad drivers. Even with the current drivers, it performs well under a long range through walls. With Windows 7, I am getting 4 out of 5 bars (good) and with Linux 63% (good). This is better perfromance than I had with other adapters. Too bad MediaTek bought out Ralink.
Deliver from Hong Kong took 8 days and there was no tracking information after the package left HK.
It comes with a clip on attachment which may be useful for laptop users.
The USB mini-plug means you can't use standard USB extension cords.
Not pleased with Newegg's censorship of certain words. It's hard to deal with a robot.
