Good, but not what I expected... 04/30/2014
This review is from: Lenovo Desktop PC ThinkCentre M58P Core 2 Duo 3.0 GHz 2 GB 160 GB HDD Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit (Microsoft Authorized Recertified)
Pros:
It is very clean, works well, not excessively loud. Mine arrived with a clean Lenovo keyboard (but not apparently new), and a cheap iMicro optical mouse that appears brand new. As a USFF computer it is quite compact. COA for Windows 7 Home Premium appears legitimate (have not yet activated mine). Lenovo BIOS and general hardware quality are pretty solid. Came with a DVD multi-player optical drive. Has 8 USB 2.0 ports (2 in the front, 6 in the back). It has an E8400 CPU.
Cons:
It is not 'as pictured'. The picture shows a SFF M58P - like the other 3 M58's I have purchased from NewEgg, and expected with this one. The drawbacks for me are So-Dimm memory instead of Dimm, only 2 memory slots, an external 'compatibie' power supply, no e-SATA port on the back of the computer, and the only internal slot is a low profile PCI slot. No PCI-e 1x or 16x as I have come to expect with the SFF form computers.
Overall Review:
NewEgg needs to improve their care in the descriptions for these 3rd party refurb computers. The picture should match what they are shipping, or there should not be a photo in the listing. The one I received came labeled as a Certified nUsed Computer, but there was NO warranty or support information inside the packaging. The dilemma for me is I purchased this as a backup for the other 3 Lenovo's I purchased - all of which came as SFF forms which matched their photos and descriptions. This one showed USFF in the description, but the picture was clearly a SFF matching the other 3. So I don't have a power supply, CPU cooler or memory that I could use to keep the other 3 running. The drives (3.5 HD and 5.25 half height optical) would be swappable. And I suspect if i moved a 3.5 HD from one of the SFF computers to this USFF computer, it would boot up cleanly (although would probably need to be re-activated).
