My new "Preferred" mobile charger 06/20/2014
This review is from: ORICO Compact 5-Port Super Charger (2 x 5V2.4A Super Charger, 3 x 5V1A Regular Charger) with 12V3A Power Adapter - Black (DCP-5U-US)
Pros:
I have a couple USB volt-amp meters, and I'm confident that this mobile charger can do what I need. For testing, I drained my devices to about 20% charge and first charged them with the manufacturers' specific chargers. So for example, both the Nook HD and Nexus tablets drew about 1.8 amps. The DCP-5U charged each @ 1.8 amps using the "Super" ports, and when I tried to charge both at the same time, the charged in the 1.6 - 1.7 amp range. My phones (old Samsung's) and 4 Cameras all required 0.7 amps or less and charged in any of the 5 ports.
Cons:
Not really a con but . . . The small 5-port station box gets a warm on the bottom when I charged more than 2 devices so I may have to re-think keeping it in a closed console in the truck.
Overall Review:
(1) Before buying a multi-port USB charger, you should read the small print on each of your device chargers. If one specifies 5V @ 1000 ma (milli-amp) or less, the universal charge ports will do. If your phone or tablet requires more, be careful to use the "Super" charging ports.
(2) Orico could make one improvement: Integrate the 36 watt power supply and USB charger into one box. It would eliminate the "fragile" cable between the power brick (about 1/2 the size of a laptop power supply) and the charging station.
