Pros:

This single-core has quite a good powerful core to it!!! Processing power is about equal to a Dual CPU Pentium 4 3.0Ghz HT server motherboard with a score of 802 for the sempron 145 and P4 3Ghz HT's with a score of 361 each for 722 combined. I have been able to play games like World of Warcraft, Skyrim, Aion, TeraRising, LOTR, SWTOR, and GTA SA etc with no problems. The core runs at 80 to 100% with Windows 7 64-bit and these games, but doesnt choke up. No lag when paired with a decent video card.

Cons:

None ... other than not much difference between Sempron 140 and Sempron 145. The extra 100Mhz of the 145 doesn't amount to a noticable difference, so I probably could have bought a 3rd Sempron 140 2.7Ghz instead of the Sempron 145 2.8Ghz and saved $6 at the time for the 3rd low cost computer build I had.

Overall Review:

I originally bought the Sempron 140 2.7Ghz CPUs as cheap CPUs for builds, then decided to buy this Sempron 145 2.8Ghz. For the extra $6 at the time, I probably could have just gotten another 140 instead of the 145. Not much gain in the extra 100Mhz, however I was able to overclock this CPU 10% to 3.08Ghz and it ran with no problems, and the 140 I could only get to 2.85Ghz from 2.7Ghz in which any higher and it would act up so this 145 overclocks to 10% while the 140 couldnt be pushed an extra 270Mhz to 2970Mhz, but instead could only be driven to 2912Mhz with locked multiplier and FSB changed from 200Mhz on DDR2 800Mhz to 208Mhz for a 7.28% overclock with any higher OC causing freeze framing in games and random BSOD's.

For the same money if you dont mind used, you can get a Dual-Core either AM2 or AM3 for less than $20 that will outperform this CPU.

I have since stopped buying these new in favor of used Athlon 64 x2 4450B AM2 CPU's and Athlon II x2 215 AM3 CPU's used for less than $20 each and no problems. These used CPUs benchmark 50% better for the Athlon x2 4450B ( Business Class ) Socket AM2, and 100% better for the Athlon II x2 215 Socket AM3. *Also entry level used Phenom CPUs start around the price tag of this Sempron single core that benchmark even better such as x2 and x3 Phenom CPUs that are in this price range.
