This review is from: HP 2000-2d60DX 15.6” Notebook AMD A-Series A6-5200 (2.00GHz) Quad Core CPU, 4GB Memory, 500GB HDD, AMD Radeon HD 8400, SuperMulti DVD Burner, Windows 8 64-Bit
Pros:
Looks nice (if you don't mind fingerprints on gloss finish).
Cons:
There are no network drivers available from HP for Windows 7.
Overall Review:
If you are planning on keeping Windows 8, then disregard my review because it would not be an accurate assessment.
I am a firm believer that Windows 8 is only has merit in a touch screen environment. I purchased this laptop with the intention of installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. It was not until after I had formatted the hard drive that I found out that HP never made LAN or WLAN drivers for this model that are supported in 7. I contacted HP and they said that since I "degraded" my OS that they could not support the device and I should contact Microsoft. What a joke. Microsoft doesn't make the drivers, the manufactures do (HP). The WLAN card is a Qualcomm Atheros AR5B125, so I thought maybe I could find a generic driver for that card that is supported in Windows 7. No such luck. These Manufacturers can essentially force us to use an OS simply by not providing drivers and it is BULL. The only work-around I was able to find is to purchase either a USB WLAN adapter or a USB to Ethernet adapter that use their own drivers. This seems pretty stupid when you think about the LAN and WLAN that are built into the laptop that are basically useless.
If anyone can think of something I have overlooked here, I encourage you to write a review with that information in response.
