4 out of 5 eggs Works as advertised - wireless audio jack and DLNA 07/21/2014

This review is from: D-Link DCH-M225 Wi-Fi Range Extender with airplay/DLNA Audio Streaming

Pros:

Setup is easy enough. Plug into Wall, hold down the WPS button, go hit the WPS button on your main router. Then just go to dlinkap.local./ and login (no password) It will prompt for updating the firmware. HOWEVER, after that, I couldn’t login, I just pressed “log in” over and over. It didn’t work in IE or Chrome. So I power cycled it, and then I could login. I went through the wizard and set up the rest of the stuff. So remember to power cycle it! I see the other reviewer here had the same problem. With you deal with DLNA stuff, there are always a mess of settings and it can get a little annoying. Any techy knows wifi stuff can always be a little wonky, but it’s certainly getting better. I tested with this my DLNA Onkyo receiver and it indeed worked just fine. I mean with the WPS button, connectivity was certainly a breeze. I tested this with a 1/8” jack (mini stereo) speaker plugged into the device and it worked fine too, even with my android. (I Used BubbleUPNP). I can certainly see this thing being useful for those looking for a wireless-ish solution to sending audio around.

Cons:

I can’t think of much. It is a plug hog, meaning it’s so fat that it will hog up all other plugs around it, which can get annoying fast to take up 3 plugs instead of one.

Overall Review:

houghts: With most things I can set them up without looking at the manual, but not this. But it’s super short and quick and to the point, so high praise for that. It also includes a little card and stickers to make setup and passwords easier. I did listen for hours and didn’t get any hiccups. When I unplugged it, it was warm, but not hot. The range is as good as your wifi range. It has other features too, wifi extending, etc.
