This review is from: ASUS RT-N66U N900 Dual-Band WiFi Gigabit Router
Pros:
Firmware updates show up once in a while, which means that they are still improving it.
I love how easy it is to use, and how quickly the menus allow you to navigate. Everything is easy to find.
USB ports that work well- used for my printer and I tried unsuccessfully with a NAS box (with the stock firmware- I never tried again).
Cons:
It looked like it was working fine, but it had intermittent function, random network problems. Lost all connectivity to the internet. I blamed the ISP first, and after 2 days, I caved and swapped the router to my old RT-N16.....restarted the modem and waited for the router, and there it was. Internet was restored. I actually wanted to call the ISP back and apologize for insisting that it wasn't my equipment.
The bad part isn't that it died....I searched for ASUS support numbers and support web site. None worked, the phone line is dead, the website is non-responsive. It's like they just pulled the plug and took off.
I have no idea was is going on at ASUS- even their newegg contact info is out of date.
Overall Review:
Customer support is the most important thing with all my purchases. There is literally no support to be found with ASUS.
Unfortunately, even though this is one of the better routers I've used, I can not justify buying this brand again...for anything.
