This review is from: HIS IceQ X² Turbo Boost Clock Radeon R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card H270XQMT2G2
Pros:
Metal shroud and smaller than other R9's.
Cons:
First one I received from Newegg was DOA, but a ticket through HIS suggested it was simply a bad driver. After waiting for new drivers and doing a clean install of windows the problem persists. Card runs fine until you try to game on it. Doesn't matter settings or if fan is at 100%, once the game opens I have about 30-40 seconds before the card overheats and hangs up. According to CCC the card gets to around 80C when this happens.
I RMA'd through Lexy Pacific as per HIS instructions and the 2nd card does the exact same thing. Luckily my relative had a different brand R9 and we swapped cards. His R9 works perfectly in my rig and my HIS R9 has the same problem in his rig.
I sent this information to Lexy Pacific and they responded that I now have to go back through HIS before we can proceed. The first RMA was a relatively quick process, but with the holidays coming up I'm pretty sure it'll be another month before I get a new card...
Overall Review:
Doing a quick Google search it appears there was a bad batch of these R9 cards and the overheat issue is fairly common. I'm just hoping HIS doesn't try to give me the run around and I actually get to use this card.
Manufacturer Response:
