Pros:
Slots and plugs for everything - Everything you could want in your PC is supported
Ease of installation - Booted up first time and every time after
Rock solid power - 8+2 power phase for my FX-8350
Thermal Radar is extremely useful when benchmarking
990FX chipset really is the best option when it comes to the Vishera 8-core CPUs
Heatsinks, Ports, Headers, Slots, are all very high quality
Cons:
USB 3.0 header wobbles a bit, but not enough for concern
Overall Review:
I purchased this board to replace my ageing MSI 970a-g46, which was carried over from when my CPU was a Phenom II 970. Although I thought it was working well for my new FX-8350, I see now that the old board was really the weak link in my system. Within 2 hours of installing this motherboard, my PC ran the Firestrike benchmark in 3DMark with a result of 6680, which was 20% higher than my old score. And that was just running ASUS AI Suite to optimize my system. I may someday take up serious overclocking but for now I feel comfortable letting the AI suite run its setting. It was literally 1 mouse click to give me 20% better benchmarking results. In various games I have also noticed a difference. Where my settings were high, I can now manage ultra without losing FPS. Gaming is really the only thing I use this computer for, and to gain 20% performance for $179 is a no-brainer. The 5-year warranty is very comforting, although I hope I will never need it. Hands down, I love this board.
