Good cheap board, overclockable! 01/18/2015
This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P (rev. 2.0) AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
Pros:
Cool, low voltage overclock on an FX-6300 to 4.5 GHz. Has all the features I was looking for.
Cons:
Doesn't have features I wasn't going to use anyway?
Crossfire/SLI, Thunderbolt, DDR4...
Overall Review:
This board does have its quirks, I'll admit, but it's nonetheless a very decent performer for the price.
Easy to overclock, especially coming from C2Q on a P45 board. There seems to be a lot of fuss over 4+1 vs. 8+2 phase power, but with liquid cooling and a fan pointed toward the VRMs, it's had perfectly acceptable temps even taking it up to 4.8 GHz. Feels like I might even be able to hit 5 GHz if I cared about that sort of thing. 4.5 on the 6300 seems a great balance of extra performance without voltage levels that will make the chip last less than 10 years.
Overall, I'm quite pleased I didn't spend more on stuff I don't need in a board.
