This review is from: RAIDMAX ATX-404WR Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Pros:
Lightweight, cool looks, USB3.0.
Cons:
Cheaply made.
Quality standards sub-par.
Facia is connected with wires. Not a separate piece when cleaning your vents.
Overall Review:
I'm heading into 20 years of building computers and I've had my share of inexpensive products. I usually go with a known name, even when I go the more frugal route. Seeing so many positive things about Raidmax I decided to offer one as an option to a client. They liked my suggestion and I ordered it.
I'm sitting here, used to regular frustration of building rigs, but this one is different. For one, out of the 9 posts for an ATX, only 8 were supplied. I checked the bag, the box, nothing. Meh, I've got a spare. I plug the 9th one in. Start screwing them in. Notice they don't want to (except for the one that was mine). Non-standard screws. Not happy.
I like to make sure that my boards are seated properly, so I will tighten to a stop and give it a slight tweak to ensure it doesn't vibrate. Second one, I tweak and it keeps turning. Oh, must have just been stuck. Nope, I stripped the back end of the cheap aluminium. Not happy.
Moving on. 7 of 9 are now done, one out of commision, and the final one doesn't line up. Like not a fraction of a mm, but half the width of the screw. Not happy. I don't have time to RMA this, or I would. I promised my client it will be done on Friday.
I remove the facia to add an additional fan and open up the bay for an optical, wires are connected. Rather than have a sub facia mount with the wires attached, it's connected to the removeable facia. What a pain that will be when I have to explain that is how she will need to clear her vents. Not happy.
I expect to sacrifice some conveniences when it comes to less expensive items. I never expect that quality was a convenience. I'll never mailorder a Raidmax product again. I may still try one out, if available locally, but only if I can examine it for a bit before hand.
