Pros:
Hello. My name is Chris. I am technically inclined, but I like to take the approach of a person reading reviews that doesn’t understand all the “geek speak” and make it understandable for the person who doesn’t have the time or patience to study up on that kind of stuff. If that’s you, then this review should be very helpful to you.

Extra thin casing (7mm versus 9mm) allowing a slight bit more air cooling flow in laptops and notebooks.

Plastic casing, but still VERY well made and solid. Has quite a bit of weight to it considering it’s size.

Cool external design you will never see in a laptop/notebook.

Subtle color scheme to help keep the inside of your desktop computer looking theme oriented.

Comes with a black metal mounting bracket and all mounting screws needed for installation into a 5.5 inch bay if needed.

Stays cool to the touch even under extremely heavy operations such as zipping files while streaming video while downloading torrents AND having GTA V playing on my second monitor. (I think Windows was about to BREAK on that test LOL).

OH, did I MENTION 480GB!!??!! Niiiiice… PLENTY of room for a fully loaded operation system including all your Office type programs, video editing programs, webpage making programs and 10 of the latest AAA big name PC games you can buy on the market today. If you need more space than that, you may want to consider adding a couple mechanical 1 TB HDD’s.

If you are looking for a long term solution with outstanding performance and large storage that will stay with the curve for the next 3-5 years, you definitely want to invest in one of these 480GB AMD R7 drives without a doubt.

Overall Review:
I have had this drive for 2 months and a week before doing my review of the AMD R7 SSD 480GB drive. I REALLY wanted to put this drive to the environmental tests of the heat here in Las Vegas, AND see how it performs under SERIOUS stress and temperatures.

The first test subject was a desktop computer using a PCI Express adapter to reach/gain maximum speeds from the drive, versus using a basic SATA cable to connect the drive to the motherboard. I can tell you that in FACT this drive performs BETTER than the “listed speeds on the box or on this Newegg page.” I will NOT claim any specific numbers, but again will just say they were better than listed specifications of the drive on this webpage and the manufacturer page.

The second subject (and permanent home) was an HP 6555b Notebook from 2010 that is sporting a dual core AMD 1.8GHz processor and 4GB of DDR3 memory. It took boot times from 2 minutes and 10 seconds (130 seconds) to 40 seconds. And that includes putting in a 3 digit password. It’s even faster if we just swipe our fingerprint over the built in scanner.
The speeds of the notebooks performance are leaps and bounds over a mechanical HDD (and by the way, the mechanical HDD in the notebook was a Western Digital 7200 rpm black edition drive too, meaning it is one of the fastest mechanical drives that can be crammed into this notebook.
Because the drive can process more commands at a faster rate it allows MANY games to be played with even better graphical settings than with the old hard drive.

This notebook has been given a new 5 year lease on life.

In both test cases I simply cloned the current OS to the AMD R7 drive (2 different operating system setups) with Acronis drive clone feature. The drive plugged in and worked perfectly without a hitch on both test subjects.
