  • ATX12V / EPS12V
  • Full Modular
  • 80 PLUS GOLD Certified

Pros:

Fully modular
Japanese capacitors and transformers
Runs cool
Runs silent
7-yr warranty! Don't find that often.

I searched for this model on the 80 plus report, and did not find it. I did find the RMi, and compared the manufacturer specs and looked at the pictures, and it's close enough in all pictures for me to believe that the RMx is a high-end CWT product.

The capacitors are "Nippon Chemi-Con" which is part of Fujitsu Ten, maker of overpriced but high quality narrow tolerance electronics. So there is no question about the quality - Corsair has gone to great expense to produce a first-tier quality product. I'm impressed that the price is reasonable.

The rule of thumb is that highest efficiency occurs at 50% load, and that is what I am drawing - 489w. The power supply remains very cool. In the two weeks I've been using this unit, I have chosen to not allow a reboot for any reason - no updates or changes in hardware/software that would require a restart. The system has been stable for the full time.

I would recommend this power supply for almost any use, except of course in a mini system.

Definitely worth the cost.

Cons:

This unit has proprietary cables. I attempted to reuse some SATA lines from a different modular ps, and the unit would not power on until these were removed. Not exactly a con, but was certainly a head-scratcher for awhile.

It is fairly long as power supplies go, and won't fit in a lot of cases.

Overall Review:

I consolidated two multipurpose systems into one unit to make one server/workstation. There are 9 drives in two arrays, plus a boot SSD that doesn't take much power, plus two older cards in crossfire configuration. It is water cooled with a total of 6 fans, most of which are barely spinning.
