4 out of 5 eggs Reliable and very fast. 11/22/2015

This review is from: Seagate STDD4000100 4TB NAS Pro 2-Bay Network Storage

Pros:

This is a small sized NAS with subtle lights that show activity connection for the drives and the power light. It’s very quiet and stays cool. The feet are nonskid and the power cord is long enough to give you options.

Intel 64bit 1.7GHz dual core processor with 2GB of memory. Equipped with 2TB NAS HDD’s, which makes this equipped and matched up. The bays are easy to open or close and offers RAID 1 or 0. You can Mirror for a dual HDD security or use the max storage on both drives.

APPs for easy operational choices in categories: Backup, Business (I’m adding or personal SOHO), Multimedia, Security and Utilities. The Device Manager is easy to use and understand. This is perfect for Office, Security, Home Office with Remote access available to keep you connected.

Easy to initialize, no hard instructions. About 10 min and your setup.

Runs cool, quiet without bright annoying lights. Subtle power and drive lights.
3-year warranty

Cons:

I have none, this is a quality product which offers large storage solutions ion a small frame NAS.

Overall Review:

I’ve had this operational for a few weeks, no connectivity issues or one of any kind. The NAS is very quiet and it’s fast. The Intel processor and memory, along with true NAS HDD’s it is right there. Great for instant processing protecting your information, no need to worry if it is completed. I believe the reviews that detail specifics of performance. There are several of these to choose from and equipped with 4TB, 8TB or 10TB the average small business, security camera recording, SOHO or for the user that wants a central location on LAN. Remote access keeps you connected.

As a SOHO home user I love that I have all my music, photos and videos available on all my connected equipment. And for the backup knowing everything is in Raid 1 following the set up wizard at discover.seagate.com. Raid 0 is easy to configure if you want to increase your speed and storage volume. There are more Raid options when you have more than 2 HDD’s if you need more storage or useable way. I find 2TB to be not only enough with 3 users, I have a huge amount of growth room. You can hold a lot of data on one of these and not need anything bigger.

Seagate Network Assistant is easy to navigate and use. Device manager with settings, overview of users, groups, shares, disc space and more. In monitoring is CPU and RAM usage, Network speeds, Temperature, Time Running, you have a lot information at your fingertips, Seagate did a great job making a user friendly software for the NAS and information galore as you learn or need specific answers. There is a lot of support for this. File browser, Backup Manager, Download Manager, Sdrive and App Manager are built in. There is a 1year free offer to try the Anti-Virus, 1 free camera for security recording (you can have 4 cameras), Plex Media Server for music, channels for your iTunes Library. Some Apps are free and others have membership or use fees. That doesn’t take away from this, it adds to it. With any NAS, security, business, backup and other services do have memberships and you’re getting cutting edge reliable services. More likely product names you already know. Without member ship services if you don’t need them, you still have a great central location LAN NAS with many features to fit your needs. Seagate is a company that I have been using products for a lot of years. Often the leader in new technology than others.

A peek and browse gets you started, take some time and look over the features in this NAS Pro andf if it fits your needs you’ll be happy you chose this NAS Pro. Surveillance Manager has support up to 16 cameras with remote viewing. Many applications to use this for, you might even want more than one. This is a great dedicated or shared video storage manager. BitTorrent Sync, ElephantDrive,Syncbox Server, WordPress, ownCloud, Sdrive are Apps that cover most NAS needs. I really think this is a great choice for anyone wanting a NAS worth the investment. None of them are inexpensive, Seagate has put together
