Problems with the board 12/13/2015
This review is from: AsRock Rack C2750D4I Mini ITX Server Motherboard FCBGA1283 DDR3 1600 / 1333
Pros:
Some information about the why's of the board.
I bought this board for a freenas build.
The board has 16 gig of ecc memory that's on their memory list.
freenas has been running now (and well) for about 2 months w/o an issue.
The other day - all nics went south - filed a ticket with ixsystems just to let them know.
Last night I figured why not re-install another os just to verify that the system is ok - bought a ssd drive and threw it in.
- the first time I turned the machine on - the sata cable actually shorted (started smoking) and may have fried the drive.
I'm rma'ing the board and when I get it back it will sit in the dust pile of never to be used equipment again.
it's really too bad it seems like it's such a good board.
Cons:
- sata cables that short out.
- ipmi works most of the time but there are no status indicators.
- all ide channels now are non functional.
I have tried multiple drives in multiple ide channels - and changed the cable to non-supplied good known working cables. no drives are functional in the machine now.
Overall Review:
I have had machines going back to the 80's.
I deal with hundreds of servers daily if I found a machine with electrical issues like this I would pull all of them.
