Pretty good board 01/13/2016
This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-Z170X-SOC FORCE (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros:
It has a lot of great features that all work as advertised. The board is very good looking too. If you want the pros just read the specs on this board. It does all that fancy stuff and does it well. Excuse my low tech knowledge review.
Cons:
I didnt like the software it came with or the Bios. The software has a great interface but when trying to OC, the software could not find a stable OC. It would just bsod the PC and id be back to square one. I tried it 4 times and on the fourth try the PC wouldnt boot. I had to switch to backup bios. Anyway,I went the manual route and was able to find a stable OC at around 4.5ghz (Skylake i7 6700k) which is okay but i knew the processor could perform better. 4.6ghz was all i could squeeze out of it and it wasnt stable.
The bios was disappointing and needed work. The cursor would move but it was like having dried soda on your mouse pad, it was that sticky. I ended up using the keyboard to navigate bios which turned out to be not so bad but not ideal.
Overall Review:
I was able to RMA this board for a refund and purchase a different board. I can happily say that i have a stable OC at 4.8ghz with my new board. I gave gigabyte a shot based on the awesome features of this board and it really came out quality but it just didnt work out for me.
