Great Cooler - Dumb Install 06/30/2016
This review is from: COOLER MASTER RR-212X-20PM-R1 120mm 4th Generation Bearing CPU Cooler
Pros:
- Cools very well even in a OC'ed rig.
- Seems to be high quality
Cons:
- Terrible mounting design for a AM3 board. The mounting requires you to use a regular screw driver to tighten down the cooler on the front side of the Mobo. The Heatsink block is designed so a screw driver CANNOT be held straight onto the screw heads. This is a huge design oversight which could easily be corrected by having cutouts on the side of the heatsink (as the older deigns for this cooler did.) I still cannot believe it is designed this way. (If anyone thinks I installed this incorrectly please say so, but Its been installed for 4 months without any issues.) I am a mechanical engineer by trade, and this is just a sloppy design flaw holding back an otherwise awesome cooler.
Overall Review:
- Paired up with Cougar PWM fan and it works very well.
- Deducted 1 egg for the stupid mounting design.
