Pros:
Relatively hi-res display: all budget laptops seem to have 1280x800, but this one has 1440x900, which helps a lot for development work. Also, its website has good drivers for Win2k3, which I use for development. Its video chip may be anemic, but even when reducing the aperture to 32MB it does a good job at driving dual displays (the built in one and a 1600x1200 external one). In Balanced power mode when not doing CPU intensive tasks, it is pretty quiet, the fan is only on (audibly) about 15% of the time.
Cons:
Not sure why, but when I put a 667MHz 1 GB stick which works fine in another laptop, it only recognized 512MB. Technical support says that the laptop only supports 533MHz RAM, but I don't buy that because a 512 MB 667MHz stick is fully recognized. Anyway, I don't really need 2 GB, so I will leave it at 1.5GB for now. No PC card slot, but at least that makes it thinner and lighter. One note about RAM upgrades: there is a hidden screw under the warranty sticker, and you need to call technical support to let them know that you are adding RAM so that they keep the warranty valid
Overall Review:
For this price you can't expect a high-end machine, and I haven't run into issues so far (aside from the minor annoyance with the RAM upgrade). The mono speaker is loud enough for me, and I haven't seen any wireless issues in either win2k3 or Vista (after Windows update updated the drivers). But for $xxx, I can't complain.
