Great Card!

SPARKLE GeForce FX 5200 256MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card SF8834DT256MB
SPARKLE GeForce FX 5200 256MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card SF8834DT256MB

Pros: I installed Windows 7 on a computer for someone. After hours of searching and trying different things to get their graphics working properly, I opted for this card instead. It works with Windows 7 perfectly fine and the customer was happy with the huge increase in resolution.

Cons: None, really. Then again, I'm not stress testing it.

Overall Review: This card is in a 10 year old desktop I installed more memory in and it runs Windows 7 fine. I was shocked the old computer ran it so well.

Most Critical Review

Only lasted 13 months

Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD3200BEVT 320GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: It worked really well for the time I had it in my MacBook.

Cons: Installed mid-December 2009. Suddenly died on me early January 2011. I'm pretty disappointed it lasted this long. I would have expected it to last 2 years at the minimum. 13 months = way too short.

Excellent but a few oddities

Logitech K740 Illuminated USB Keyboard
Logitech K740 Illuminated USB Keyboard

Pros: Flat keys, backlit keys, three levels of illumination (or off completely). I type very fast on this keyboard and it isn't a struggle to type on like my last Dell keyboard - which hurt after a few minutes. The design is extremely thin and the rubberized wrist wrest is fairly comfortable and I feel a nice addition to the rest of the keyboard.

Cons: There are a few oddities that deserve my four-egg review. First, the "F" keys don't light up. They have icons on them that light up, the actual letters "F1", "F2", etc *do not* light up. This also includes the Print Screen and Pause/Break buttons. Again, the icons on them light up, but not the actual letters or words that say what they are. Not sure what Logitech was thinking there.

Overall Review: This is a great keyboard and I would recommend it to people. I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for the function keys that don't light up.

Excellent Laptop. Bloatware does cause some issues.

SAMSUNG Laptop RF Series Intel Core i7-2630QM 4GB Memory 500GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M w/ NVIDIA Optimus 15.6" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit RF511-S02
SAMSUNG Laptop RF Series Intel Core i7-2630QM 4GB Memory 500GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M w/ NVIDIA Optimus 15.6" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit RF511-S02

Pros: Extremely fast. Google Earth starts up completely in less than 3 seconds. I am not a gamer but I just wanted a fast computer than get do some serious multitasking. I have no patience when it comes to computers and this computer solves my problem very easily.

Cons: I am listing a lengthy cons section here, but notice I still give the RF511 four eggs. It's great, but: It comes with bloatware. However, it is much better than most HP's that come with gigs and gigs of bloatware. This had some WildTanget games I uninstalled. It came with Norton and I took that off. None of the bloatware was obtrusive, though. "Fast Start" is okay. It's more like 7 seconds by the time the laptop reconnects to wireless. You have to wait about 10 minutes in the beginning while Samsung installs a bunch of their own software that tries to make the experience better. Unfortunately I have found the WiFi manager causes more problems than it solves so I simply deleted it. When I would wake the computer from sleep the WiFi had issues until I deleted their WiFi manager. There is an interesting Intel TurboBoost program that tries to install but just sits there every time I start up my computer. Read the "other thoughts" section to see details.

Overall Review: Maybe I did something to trigger it. If you find yourself with either the wireless not reconnecting after returning from sleep, delete the wifimanager.exe file from: C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung\Easy Display Manager\ This is very frustrating because it does not list itself in the Startup folder nor in the msconfig startup list so you have to just delete it. Toss it in the recycle bin, reboot, make sure you don't get any errors next time, and then delete it for good. It looks like Intel/Samsung stores some TurboBoost setup file in: C:\Windows\MSetup If you have an installation window at startup that just sits there forever and never does anything nor tells you what it is, it's called gadget.exe and/or TurboBoostInst.exe and is located in the msetup folder. Delete it and it will stop bothering you. ------- Don't get me wrong, this laptop is fantastic but considering the bloatware doesn't put itself in the startup list I had to dock an egg. That's rather obtrusive a

Brought my 6 year old Compaq back to life

Wintec AMPO 1GB 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM DDR 333 (PC 2700) Laptop Memory Model 3AMD1333N-1G-R

Pros: It's memory. It just works. And it was the chepest I could fine. Ubuntu 10.04 rocks on my 6 year old Compaq with desktop effects enabled.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: It brought back life to my old laptop, which runs Ubuntu superbly now.

Working Great two years later!

APC BE750G Back-UPS 750 VA 10-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) (Replaced by BE850M2)

Pros: Well UPS's either work or they don't. This one works.

Cons: Windows-only software which works half decent.

Overall Review: This is protecting a PfSense firewall, D-Link DIR-615 Router and Motorola SurfBoard SB6120 cable modem. Our power here is really poor, sometimes it goes out on sunny days. Worst experience yesterday - For about an hour during wind/rain, the power kept going off and on multiple times every few minutes, sometimes it would barely come on (brownout). Regardless, this unit kicked on/off just as the power came on. During a brownout I'd hear it click on and beep as well even if I didn't notice the lights go out in the house. Keeping my firewall uptime at 41 days =D (41 days ago the power went out for 4 hours). Great product for what it does; I'm sure it's saved me from multiple surges as well.
