Extremely Good Monitor

Acer 17" TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 8 ms 1280 x 1024 D-Sub AL1706Ab
Acer 17" TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 8 ms 1280 x 1024 D-Sub AL1706Ab

Pros: This monitor has excellent color reproduction, no dead pixels, no light bleed through, and good clarity.

Cons: No DVI input I suppose.

Overall Review: I bought this monitor to use on a server because it was cheap. I received a huge surprise when i saw the image quality on this "cheap" monitor. It blows away my other monitors that have DVI and lower response times. I LOVE this monitor. I moved it off of the server and use it on one of my everyday comps and put the 19" DVI monitor that cost $100 more on the server.

Wrong part #

Hitachi GST Deskstar 7K80 HDS728080PLA380 (0A30356) 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive
Hitachi GST Deskstar 7K80 HDS728080PLA380 (0A30356) 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Cheap, fast delivery

Cons: I just wrote the previous review and forgot to add a few bits of info. The P/ on these drives are 0A30356. The P/N on the 3.0 Gb/s drives are 0A31048. Make sure you buy the correct P/N drive if you are expecting 3.0 Gb/s. Also these drives are a lot noisier than the higher speed ones. Both drives have the same mfg date of feb-2006 so its totally just a different part number. Newegg is advertising these as 3.0 Gb/s when they arent.

Barely Adequate

BenQ 19" SXGA LCD Monitor 6ms, 2ms (GTG) 1280 x 1024 D-Sub, DVI FP93GX
BenQ 19" SXGA LCD Monitor 6ms, 2ms (GTG) 1280 x 1024 D-Sub, DVI FP93GX

Pros: Low response time, adequate brightness, DVI and D-Sub inputs. Very well put together.

Cons: Very poor image quality. Extremely poor color uniformity. Light bleed through on top edge and bottom edge. Overall, I am extremely displeased with the quality of the image produced with this monitor. I have adjusted and adjusted the RGB color and Luminance settings and just cant get a decent image from this monitor.

Overall Review: For the price and the specifications listed this monitor just doesnt perform well. I bought two monitors at the same time; this one and a competitor's "cheapie" 17" D-Sub only 8ms monitor to put on my server. The other monitor blows this one away for color depth, color uniformity, and overall image quality. Guess what? I put this more expensive bigger 19" monitor on the server and leave it turned off 90% of the time and use the "cheapie" monitor every day.

Excellent Monitor

Acer 17" TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 8 ms 1280 x 1024 D-Sub AL1706Ab
Acer 17" TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 8 ms 1280 x 1024 D-Sub AL1706Ab

Pros: Excellent monitor; perfect picture right out of the box. No dead pixels, no backlight bleed through on the edges. Perfect colors. All I did was hook it up and turn it on. Too simple.

Cons: I only bought one, other than that... NONE!

Overall Review: Very good monitor for the money.

Not as claimed

Hitachi GST Deskstar 7K80 HDS728080PLA380 (0A30356) 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive
Hitachi GST Deskstar 7K80 HDS728080PLA380 (0A30356) 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Drives work, cheap price.

Cons: These drives are advertised as Sata 3.0 Gb/s drives. I ordered two and what arrived were 1.5Gb/s drives. I compared them to an OEM drive that came out of my new Dell Comp that was a 3.0 Gb/s drive. They have slightly different model numbers and these two drives are rated at 82.3 GB on the label while the 3.0 Gb/s drive is rated at 80.0 GB on the label.

Overall Review: Maybe Newegg made a mistake or maybe they didnt, I dont know but I know I'm mad and they won't do anything about it.

Decent Comp

TOSHIBA Laptop TECRA Intel Pentium M 740 256MB Memory 40GB HDD Intel GMA 900 14.0" Windows XP Professional A5

Pros: This overall is a good computer. But for less money the best buy is the Acer Aspire 1640 series, bigger screen(15.4"), bigger HDD(80 GB 5400 RPM), more and faster memory(512MB DDR2-533), DVD burner(8X DVD+/-RW).

Cons: None, just not the best bang for the buck.

Overall Review: Go with the ACER, its a much better deal.
