Really sturdy board
Pros: Good looking board, well made and sturdy. It matches my G.Skill Ripjaws. Add a couple of case fans with Red LEDs and it looks subtly cool..
Cons: None at the moment, but see other thoughts..
Overall Review: I read the review that stated that the install disc that comes with the board hosed their OS install...well they were right. I started with Windows 8 64 bit and then ran the install disc. Upon reboot selection, I selected update and restart...NO.. DO NOT DO THAT>>It sent me into a continuous loop of " Windows update failed to configure"..Darn.. Out comes the Windows OS disc and reinstall Windows 8 64 bit again, this time I unplugged the network cable and ran the Gigabyte install disc. I did not "reboot", I just shut it down. Push button and start it up and then hook up network cable and run Windows Update...all is now well. You can choose to believe or you can choose to reinstall your system.. :-)
full disclosure please!
Pros: Hard drives arrived intact and seal in static protection. They were bubbled wrapped, but the USPS box looked as though they hard been playing soccer with it. I ran diagnostic test on both hard drives and they passed.
Cons: These are NOT new by ant means. They have dates of 2009 on one and 2010 on the other. The real kicker is you can plainly see the screw head impressions where these hard drives had been mounted. At best these are "recent pulls" are perhaps even " new pulls" but absolutely not new. These should have been disclosed as "pulls". I realize Newegg sells "open box" items, but they fully disclose that and even list them in a separate category. Come on Newegg, let's do this right.
Does the job
Pros: Does exactly what it is supposed to do...it holds 2.5" hard drives. Yes, the bracket is made from plastic, but it is thick and not flimsy. Take a few minutes to closely align your mounting holes..you may need to move it forward or slightly farther back than you would think. Being plastic, you don't want to be removing and reinstalling the mounting screws too many times, remember, it's not metal..so the mounting holes could conceivably get stripped. The price is right and it works, what's not to like?
Cons: You have to think ( darn)
Overall Review: I'll be buying another when needed.
Feels good
Pros: Good solidly built case for Full ATX board. Definitely not fancy but fully functional. Does not feel as though the sides are going to get pushed in like some of the other inexpensive cases that I have used. Front panel pops off and on easily for Drive insertions and adjustments. Plenty of room for routing cables. Built in fans are well placed and create a good airflow through the case. room for additional fans should your build require the extra air.
Cons: It would be nice for the area that the motherboard is fastened to be detachable, but that would probably drive up the price.
Old school but still cool
Pros: The speakers on our TV aren't quite up to par. Instead of upgrading the TV we went with a receiver and new set of speakers. It's not surround sound, but WOW the stereo output is very clear. I'm no longer aking my wife " what did they say?"
Cons: It's a bit bulky, but not too bad.
Overall Review: All together, it's a great deal. it's not high tech, but it is effective!
Great Feel, great deal!
Pros: This keyboard feels like a laptop keyboard.
Cons: (If you don't like laptop key boards) This key board feels like a laptop keyboard. Duh!
Overall Review: I've pounding on desktop keyboards for quite a while. I decided to start using a laptop at home and a little bit at work..so I wanted a keyboard for my desktop that I would have to pound on...End result like I said before..it feels like a laptop key board!
Fast barely describes this new technology
When loading some desktop items from my original PC onto a flash drive, the overall average speed was around 1.2 MBs. When uploading the exact same items onto my new desktop with the Intel Optane SSD 900P, my consistent speed was 23 MBs. That's 20 times faster!
I purchased this to be the main storage unit for my new build. Intel Optane 240 GB for the O/S ( which is overwhelmingly fast) and the XPG SX8200 PCIe NVMe Gen3x4 M.2 2280 480GB SSD for my main storage. The addition of the small heat-sink shield makes a lot of sense, especially since heat has been the greatest complaints for these extra fast drives. They are not big, so air-flow is unhindered through the case and easy exit of any heat build up.
