Roku 3's are great for international programming
Pros: I own a full blown XBMC htpc as well as 2 Raspberry PI XBMC builds. I am blown away by how well the Roku 3 works and the total value proposition. The device is very responsive, easy to use. My 66 year old mom is on YouTube all of the time now with the Roku 3. The YouTube app acts almost as good as Chromecast. The YouTube Cast button launches to the Roku 3 any video that you have searched for on your phone. The only caveat is that you have to launch Youtube on the Roku 3 before you start casting to it. The best part about Roku 3 versus XBMC has been the Dishworld app, and the fact that I can run Netflix and (SouthAmericanRiver)Prime without spending too much time hacking around with the device. Dishworld is the most expensive streaming service we subscribe to, but it has by far the best and most international programming. Overall our cost savings versus our regular Dish bill has been high. The Dishworld also gave us an automatic upgrade to the HD international channels that Dish was going to charge us for. You will love the fact that the remote has headphones on it when you want to watch TV late at night with your spouse asleep. I was worried about the network connection being too slow on wireless (which had me checking if this device was gigabit when wired), but it has been very responsive. I don't even bother to plug in even when I have a network port acccessible nearby
Cons: Youtube Cast buttons don't work without launching the app first Hulu commercials are excessive on Roku versus on XBMC Headphones drain the remote battery quickly
Overall Review: Compared to what it costs to build a Pi, the Roku 3 is an INCREDIBLE value. The processor feels much faster. The network connectivity is faster than my Pi's where I cheaped out and got 150/mbps adapters (to avoid having to do a USB hub). I'd like to see what it takes to build apps for the Roku 3, such as to watch other streams off of the net like XBMC has. I haven't had time to look into it yet but I wonder if it'll be as easy as XBMC.
Mouse click is LOUD
Pros: Name branded
Cons: Loud mouse click and its also alot harder to click than earlier generation Microsoft mouses. The way the plastic is molded on the top it is like you are having to apply alot more force than the MIcrosoft mouses that have the buttons on separate molds from the rest of the top of the mouse
Overall Review: I paid $19.99 for this thinking that since it is MIcrosoft it would have the same usual ergonomic quality of previous Microsoft products. The quality of the mouse is giving me buyers remorse.
Stable so far
Pros: I bought this model after extensive research because it appeared to be closest in build to the Samsung 2TB 204UI 5400 RPM model's that I already own multiple drives of. Those are extremely stable and were built in Thailand before the Tsunami. So far this drive is living up to the Samsung legacy. I hope that it doesn't bring back and of my previous bad experiences with Seagate.
Cons: None yet
Slow
Pros: None. I need to get rid of these now, they are worthless.
Cons: This is extremely slow when paired with XBMC on Raspberry Pi. I regret purchasing this and not the 300mbps adapter.
Still working good
Pros: Purchased a single drive on 03/20/13 for my primary machine. It is still working good (9 months plus). Ubuntu Linux boots in ~ 10 seconds on this hard drive.
Cons: None confirmed
Overall Review: I have this drive in a rig that seems to have a noisy case or power supply fan so I can't judge the noise level of the hard drive.
This monitor is HUGE
Pros: Huge, power efficient, and does what it needs to do
Cons: Stand leaves a little bit to be desired as far as wigglyness. I knew that going into this and was planning to wall mount it when I bought it. Since then I have backed off the plan to wall mount.
Overall Review: After buying two of these for $199 I saw numerous Black Friday deals that were better including monitors with speakers built in, with HDMI connectors. I am still satisfied with my purchase but could have shopped better.
