Super stable, super price!

GIGABYTE Radeon HD 4550 512MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Video Card GV-R455D3-512I
GIGABYTE Radeon HD 4550 512MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Video Card GV-R455D3-512I

Pros: I found many Pro's on this card: Price-$20 after MIR is unbeatable! Display types: HDMI, VGA, DVI-I: its got em' all! Stability-stable as a rock! Great core clock speed for the price-600MHz [3.3 cents a MHz] Cooling-cool as a cucumber [I attached a simple $1.50 80mm cooling fan to the heatsink to make it even cooler (it was a no brain-er using 2" bolts from OSH through the heatsink with aircraft nuts)] Quiet-can hear the heatsink, can barely hear the 80mm fan Capability-Easily handles 1080i Memory-not DDR2, but DDR3 memory for $20...Wow! Rebate-Gigabyte has never failed me even once and I have sent in dozens of their rebates over the years... Power requirements-very low power consumption (only 20 watts). Acceleration-supports h.264 acceleration Power-No molex power connector needed HD-handles High Def no problems at all Audio-HDMI audio sound is excellent Blueray-Blue-ray playback is flawless Temps-37 w/fan, 42 w/o fan

Cons: 1. Made my fingers tired typing in all the pro's. 2. Doesn't perform quite as well as my 5870, but that is understandable.

Overall Review: You do not need to install an 80mm fan on this 4550 card. I did it for the following reasons: 1. It was totally easy 2. It cost less than $2.00 for the extra parts [OSH] 3. Cooler [the cooler the component, the greater the performance and longevity]. 4. I like to tinker and it was fun because it seemed almost as if it was designed to attach an 80mm flush against the heat sink [the holes between the heat sink fins are spaced EXACTLY the distance between the holes on an 80mm fan...can you believe it? 5. I sent this card on a new build to a friend who resides 6 degrees from the equator...and he has no air conditioning at all...so every degree counts! My last thoughts on this card: if you do not do serious gaming, need a stable reliable card for HTPC or for browsing the internet, there is no better deal than this card for the last several months...so if you are in this category, just buy it!

Biggest headache ever!

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM

Pros: Fast NewEgg shipping.

Cons: Before purchasing Model#F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM from New Egg, I contacted G.skil and asked if this Model#F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM would work with a GA-P55A-UD3 v.1 MOBO. They assured me it would work just fine. The GA-P55A-UD3 v.1 is also listed in G.skils compatibility list for use with their F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM RAM. What a nightmare! I tried every configuration possible over a one month period and finally realized they gave me false information. The G.skil Model#F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM RAM was totally unstable and gave non-stop BSOD's when attempting to use it in the GA-P55A-UD3 v.1 motherboard with an i5-750 processor. Finally, after beating my head against the BSOD wall for over 30 days I went to the local computer super store, and purchased A-D_A_T_A 1600MHz RAM. Installed it in the same system and sure enough, it works flawlessly. What really ticks me off is that G.skil assured me the G.skil Model#F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM RAM would work in the GA-P55A-UD3 v.1 MOBO. What a joke!

Overall Review: Want to avoid a total headache? Here is what I learned during this total G.skil fiasco: Check your MOBO manufacturers Qualified Vendors List before you buy, and also look at and read up at several forums before you purchase RAM, even if the RAM manufacturer assures you it will work on a given MOBO! I just wrote G.skil, explaining this entire situation, asking them to send me one of their compatible sticks that will work: F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ F3-14400CL8D-4GBGT1 F3-16000CL9D-4GBTD I will post back here after G.skil responds to my letter and email. New Egg rocks!

Excellent stable GPU card at a really nice price

Sapphire Radeon PULSE RX 590 8GB GDDR5 PCI-E Dual HDMI / DVI-D / Dual DP w/ Backplate
Sapphire Radeon PULSE RX 590 8GB GDDR5 PCI-E Dual HDMI / DVI-D / Dual DP w/ Backplate

Pros: Super easy install! Works extremely well and perfectly stable Price was incredibly low during a NewEgg sale

Cons: None whatsoever, unless you want to count the fact it is out of stock now...

Overall Review: Installation in motherboard was easy and successful. Downloading and installing drivers worked with a problem. Plays Fortnite really good! Remains cool as a cucumber even while using GPU intensive games. Purchase price at NewEgg during a sale made this card lower in price than many inferior cards I honestly cannot find anything wrong with it nor anything to criticize it! You simply cannot go wrong with this GPU if you can find it available and on sale

5 + years and still going strong as can be!

ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Longevity Longevity Longevity Still working like new and this is after 5 years of constant use...

Cons: I honestly cannot find anything to not like about it...well, maybe this: it does not transform itself into the newest motherboard every year with all the bells and whistles!

Overall Review: What not to like...nothing has fried and nothing has stopped working. It still works as if it was purchased yesterday...yet here we are, 5 years later, on 24/7, 365 days a year, and it just doesn't know how to quit or say enough! I paired it with the Intel 3570K and 16 GB's of DDR3 RAM, water cooled in a HAF X case with 17 fans. So yeah, I have kept it cool with great air flow. People told me heat kills electronics, so I took that advice to heart. I really cannot say enough good things about this motherboard. The price was right, it's done everything I have asked it to do, and even though I keep wanting to update to the newest and fastest, I cannot justify it because the system is still running A+ OK! Just purchased a RX 590 8GB to install in this motherboard. Since this motherboard has PCI Express 3.0, it should be good to go. Plan on playing more Fortnite on it. Wish every motherboard I purchased worked as good as this one!

So far, very good, but my knees are still shaking...

EVGA Z68 FTW 160-SB-E689-KR LGA 1155 Intel Z68 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA Z68 FTW 160-SB-E689-KR LGA 1155 Intel Z68 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: I picked up this EVGA Z68 FTW 160-SB-E689-KR at New Egg for the incredibly low price of $60. I did not read any of the reviews at the time I purchased this motherboard because the price was so good, and I have never had a problem with EVGA products in the past. Recently, I decided to unpack this motherboard and put a nice rig together.

I read every review on this EVGA motherboard here at New Egg and AmaZin Rover. I also carefully checked out the EVGA forums. And that is when my knees began to shake and tremble. Those were the absolute worst horror stories I have ever read about a motherboard and I read a lot of reviews, sometimes daily.

I did not want to even open the package after reading about all the terrible problems people were having with this specific motherboard.

After waiting nearly 4 months, I decided to open the package and try it anyway [all the bells and whistles on this motherboard kept calling my name every time I looked at it]!

Desperately hoping I would be one of the fortunate and lucky ones, I opened the package and began my adventure...

I installed an Intel i5-2500k, a ZALMAN LQ-315 Water Cooler, 16 GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM, a SeaSonic X Series X-850, crossed my fingers, hoped for the best, and hit the power button...all with my knees still shaking and my teeth chattering...

Result: Everything booted up and worked perfect!

Next step, I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, permitted Windows to do all the critical updates, and again, everything has worked perfect.

So far, I am very, very happy with this motherboard.

I have left the BIOS at the same exact level it was when I purchased this motherboard: BIOS Version 689 1.05 x64

I have heard that BIOS version A05 does quite good too, but I still cannot find the courage to try it.

I have heard many horror stories on the BIOS Version R16 as I read at EVGA Forums. Supposedly a BIOS version R19 is in the making...but I tremble when thinking about trying any BIOS versions other than the original.

So, for now, my system is working A+++ and I am very happy with it. I will update later if I discover anything exciting or improved.

NewEgg rocks! A $300+ motherboard for only $60 with more bells and whistles than I have ever seen in my entire life? How did you guys pull that off anyway?

Personally, I think it's a miracle!

Cons: Only cons I can think of at the moment are all the negative reviews that strike terror in the hearts of system builders and enthusiasts alike!

Hey, I am NOT saying all the negative posts are inaccurate...what I am saying is all the negative posts scared the heck out of me and most certainly many other people, but for some reason, my EVGA Z68 FTW 160-SB-E689-KR motherboard is working perfect!

Oh, one more negative...now I wish I had purchased a lot more....as in several dozen of em'...

Overall Review: Is it possible, many more people had positive results on this EVGA Z68 FTW 160-SB-E689-KR and haven't posted their results?

Please, if you are a person who purchased a EVGA Z68 FTW 160-SB-E689-KR and had some good results, could you please even the score?

Thanks,

It is me,

Soar

Always looking for higher ground.... UPDATE: 03.15.2016 This EVGA Z68 FTW 160-SB-E689-KR motherboard is still performing like brand new and here we are, three years later. I have been extremely pleased with this motherboard. Remember, this was a $300+ motherboard selling for only $60. What an incredible steal! Not even a hiccup nor even a bump in the road. Newegg and EVGA totally rock!

Absolutely amazing!

HP Compaq Laptop 1.80GHz 2GB Memory 80GB HDD 14.1" Windows 7 Home Premium 6910P
HP Compaq Laptop 1.80GHz 2GB Memory 80GB HDD 14.1" Windows 7 Home Premium 6910P

Pros: With single applications, somehow this 7+ year old HP laptop runs as fast or faster than our i5 new laptop. Not even sure how this is possible. My wife and I were beyond pleasantly surprised. I did all the updates, did the cleaning, and this baby is like lightening! I was a little apprehensive when opening the box...I was expecting to see scratches on the body, screen, and the normal wear and tear of a refurbished unit. Not sure if they made a mistake or what, but every part of this laptop [both inside and outside] appears to be brand new. Cannot find even a single small or tiny scratch anywhere on this unit. Can't get much better than that! Also, I was expecting the Windows 7 Home Premium to lag a bit due to only 2GB's of DDR2 RAM. Nope...this laptop screams fast, fast, fast. We do not need to purchase and install the extra 2+GB's of the DDR2 RAM as I had anticipated. Did the temp tests and all is cool on the home front...running cool as a cucumber at 40c for most applications. Bottom of laptop is barely warm to the touch. Screen is brand new or, they installed a brand new screen. No dead pixels at all. Sound is extraordinary. Still pinching myself to see if this is all just a nice dream...but I keep waking every morning, look at this laptop, and wish I had purchased many, many more.

Cons: Only con so far is that we didn't purchase a couple of hundred units at this price! Unfortunately, they sold out within hours...

Overall Review: Ok, saw this laptop for $109 here at the Egg. Decided to give it a try, even though it seemed like a foolish risk to purchase a refurb that is 7+ years old... In its day, this HP was a top end business laptop. Now, it may be considered old and obsolete by many people [myself included]. After opening and testing this unit for over one full week 24/7, I now realize this was an absolutely incredible deal. As I have stated above, only con for me is that these units sold out so fast and I did not order a few hundred of them. We were gonna send this laptop to relatives in a third world nation...but decided to keep it as a back up for now. If this unit goes on sale again for $109, we will be all over it....and this time for as many as we can get!
