Thickness of the EVC may get ya
Pros: > The two of four DIMMs I was able to install did stay really cool - no heat issues observed. > Mushkin's return policy will to allow me to exchange the EVC modules for their thinner modules - so I'm not out the $ for DIMMs. > Mushkin support was very responsive and issued a RMA # promptly --> earning them the high rating
Cons: > These Mushkin EVC DIMMS are "thicker" than DIMMs with standard heat-spreaders. If your MB sockets are side by side, with no spacing between them, these will likely not fit in such an arrangement. If you are only using a couple across banks, you may be OK - check your MB carefully.
Overall Review: > Newegg site should list the EVC "thickness" as a flag / concern / warning for buyers and then allow for returns / exchanges under those conditions.
Buyer Beware
Pros: -> Large Size -> Hitachi Brand -> mostly good reviews...
Cons: -> Direct experience on High death rate -> This will be my 3rd drive in less than 9 months!! -> Last replacement lasted barely 6 months! -> People are not exaggerating about these drives. -> I have purchased Hitachi drives for 15+ years and I have NEVER NEVER had a drive with this sort of reliability issue. The drive works for a while, then refuses to spin up. This 2nd drive is now presenting the SAME symptom as the first time it was replaced. -> Googling around show this to be a common and widespread issue. -> In my case, this drive is barely being used, just a few files here and there and it's staying cool and not overheating... so I'm not sure what the problem is. I have another 2TB Hitachi right beside this one and it's been running like a champ for several years with no so much as a whimper... -> If Hitachi ships me another bum drive that fails again before it should, then this will be my last 4 TB Hitachi drive and possibly last Hitachi drive ever. -> With all the problems being reported, Hitachi should offer its customers an option of refund or or ship a newer model or something which works.
Overall Review: -> Anyone considering this drive, should think twice if they value their data, their time, costs and the hassles with shipping these back to Hitachi for replacement again and again.
Works fine for our use...
Pros: This unit seems to be reliable, well built and it works great for Windows XP and setting up out computer hardware which requires a serial port for initial IP setup.
Cons: non
EVGA - Thank You!
Pros: > Fits my shuttle perfectly (just barely) - no cutting, no hassle > Not too hard on the 400w shuttle power supply > Kid loves his new card - games are much better > The Badaboom technology looks very very interesting... > Don't care about the rename game - still a rock solid card even it it is bottom of the 200 stack. Lots of good life left in those GPUs. > 1 Power connector
Cons: > None for the price point > Should fit most places
Overall Review: > Kid wanted the GTX260/216 but simply would not fit.
Rock Solid GSKILL
Pros: Memory worked perfectly - no trouble, rock solid at stated speeds/feeds.
Cons: None - good, stable, cost effective... maybe not the best for overclocking if you are into that so YMMV
Pros: This is a follow-up to an earlier review... I really like this wireless router - fast, slick, easy to setup! My former issue with not being able to use concurrent VPN passthrus was solved by reinstalling the AT&T VPN software on both systems, all works fine now so not sure what was up with the former settings. My issue with the wireless dropping at 300Mbps seem to have been related to running the wireless card at "low power, long battery life" vs "high power, best performance". Once I made a change to "high power" no drops - rock solid!
Cons: None presently
Overall Review: If you are experiencing wireless drops, check the settings on your wireless card and verify you are using the high power, best performance... setting rather than one that goes into low power mode as that seems to have solved my drop problem!
