Cools down, makes noise
Pros: Definitely cools things off by 5 degrees or so in a G4.
Cons: Too noisy. Not loud, but always noticeable.
Overall Review: I was hoping the double-wide would mean quiet, and this may be quieter than others, but not quite right for what I wanted: My G4 is pretty loud only when it is geting hot, so I hoped this would keep it under the threshold without adding to the sound.
Conflicts with onboard RAID required BIOS update
Pros: Seems to be working just fine after a week of twiddling.
Cons: I had to update my Gigabyte board's firmware from Award BIOS to UEFI in order for the card to work. Under the latest BIOS, the board installed fine but attaching a drive caused boot failure. I believe the problem was a conflict with using the motherboard's SATA controller in RAID mode (so I could use Intel Smart Response). Updating to a UEFI firmware solved the issue but I was pretty close to returning the card. Probably a non-issue for most users but if you are using RAID make sure you have all your components updated.
Not great.
Pros: Cheap.
Cons: Slow. Physically poorly constructed.
