Almost perfect . . .

Ectaco 5" High Resolution e-Book Reader (jetBook-Lite)
Ectaco 5" High Resolution e-Book Reader (jetBook-Lite)

Pros: I am extremely happy with this purchase. I have also owned a Nook before but find the overall experience of this reader to be much better. *The form factor is perfect for holding with either one hand or two. *Very light. Can easily be held for extended periods of time. *Screen is fantastic for reading. I was concerned about it being a LCD as opposed to e-ink, but they have done a wonderful job mimicking the e-ink screens. *The slider for page turning is great. Very easy to use and very responsive. *Navigating using the number buttons down the right side makes things very easy. *Easy to bookmark, search within pages, and look up words in the dictionary without leaving the book you are reading. *I have had no problems with glare or direct light. *No charger, just replace the batteries.

Cons: While they did a fantastic job with the screen readability, the closer you hold the screen to your face, the worse the fonts become. They get slightly jagged and blurry. So if your eyesight isn't the greatest and you have to hold it very close, you may notice this. The "up" arrow on the navigation pad really needs a firm press to accept input. The other arrows don't seem to have this problem. The dictionary is a bit limited. Testing it out a few times it returned the closest thing (spelling wise) to the word I was searching for, which was not often a good match. And those are the only things I have found to pick at.

Overall Review: A couple of points: First, I don't care about wireless functionality. If the device was tied to a specific bookstore, it might be an issue. But it isn't, so I did not list it as a pro or a con. Secondly, it is possible to put kindle books from ama$on on the reader, but it is not a simple drag and drop process. It takes some work. Google unswindle.py to find out more. I have done it myself, so I know it does work.

SilverStone Precision Series PS10B Black High-strength plastic front panel, steel body ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with Foam Padded Side Panel - Retail
SilverStone Precision Series PS10B Black High-strength plastic front panel, steel body ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with Foam Padded Side Panel - Retail

Pros: Aesthetically pleasing, IMO. The inner layout is very nice and the cable management holes are well thought out. Has dust filters on the top, bottom, and front (one small one on each side). I also like the placement of the front buttons and ports. The only sounds I can hear coming from the case are the sounds of the mechanical hard disks when they are working hard. I have added three fans to the one included, plus an aftermarket cpu cooler, and I can't hear any of them. How much of this is due to the foam padding on the side panels, I have no idea. The case is incredibly light. Even after it is filled with components. The hinged door on the back is for allowing access to screw in components to the expansion slots. It is a nice addition.

Cons: The side panels are heavy, rigid, and well constructed. Every other piece of metal in this case is a flimsy pile of stink. The motherboard tray, the hard drive cages, and the fan mounting areas all flex horribly when any pressure is applied to them. The pci slot punch outs are not replaceable. I am not a fan of the toolless option for optical drives. You are kind of hunting in the dark to line them up properly because of the way they are designed. I have a feeling that some people are going to throw a fit over the fact that the top dust filter is attached to the case with magnets. Personally, I have no problem with it, but I know lots of people that go ballistic when any kind of magnetic object gets near their computer.

Overall Review: With higher quality materials, this could have been an incredible case. I really like the design and some of the features. It is very flexible in terms of cooling, and keeps things pretty quiet. If only they hadn't been so cheap with the interior metals.

Addressing the fan hub issues you read about

be quiet! DARK BASE 700 Mid-Tower Case - RGB LED Lights/6 Color Switch

Pros: Gorgeous. Tons of room, both on the build side and the cable management side. A lot of tiny features you don't see on some cheaper cases. Such as rubber washers around all the fan screws to reduce vibration.

Cons: It's expensive. Size could be a con. It's big and heavy for a mid tower. My previous build was in a phanteks p400, and the dark base 700 dwarfs it. If not handled properly, air flow can be challenging.

Overall Review: A lot of the negative reviews around the web on this case concern a defective fan/rgb hub. And they almost always say something along the lines of the front rgb will only do white, and fans plugged into the hub don't work. I admit, I ran into the same problem. When I contacted be quiet!, their answer was simple. "You plugged the rgb header into the motherboard upside down and fried the board." Yep, I sure did. They were kind enough to send me another fan hub at no cost. The moral of the story is that there probably isn't anything other than user error wrong with those fan hubs. Although I'm sure many of those folks will swear up and down that it wasn't them....

Loving this keyboard

DREVO Tyrfing V2 104Key RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard USB wired Full Size US layout Programming Macro NKRO Software Support with Outemu Brown Switch
DREVO Tyrfing V2 104Key RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard USB wired Full Size US layout Programming Macro NKRO Software Support with Outemu Brown Switch

Pros: I am coming from the Velocifire VM01 that I have been using for the past year or so. I much, much prefer this keyboard. Both have generic brown switches, but I like the feel of each key press more on the Drevo. Compared to the velocifire, the drevo is much thinner and has an overall smaller footprint, which I like. It also has a braided cable. The Drevo is a bit more noisy than the velocifire, but I'll get to that in a moment. The lighting effects are pretty much whatever you want them to be, even if you don't use the software (I'm a linux user, so no software for me). It's fully RGB and programmable right down to individual keys. All of this can be done from the keyboard itself. The tiny manual does explain this, but it's not very informative. A little trial and error will probably be needed. I am loving the meteor mode, personally. I enjoy the key font for the most part. It's fairly simple and not too exotic. The function keys pull double duty for things like media keys and quick open apps, and they work just fine for those purposes. There is also the ability to setup macros, but the manual is very vague on this setup and I haven't given it a go yet.

Cons: I really only have one con with this keyboard, and I'm already used to it after just a couple hours. It has a distinct echo inside the chassis on each keypress. Imagine the tiniest hammer inside a tin can. It's faint, but noticeable. To be clear, this doesn't seem to be switch noise itself, but rather the noise of the switch is echoing inside the hollow chassis.

Overall Review: If you like brown switches, and don't mind that echo issue I mentioned, I can't think of a reason not to get this keyboard. It is a pleasure to type on, and to look at.

Quiet as can be and lasts forever

Scythe S-FLEX SFF21D 120mm Case Fan
Scythe S-FLEX SFF21D 120mm Case Fan

Pros: I ordered 3 of these in august of 2010. I've used them in several builds, transferring them from one case to another. Almost 5 years later, they are now silently cooling my htpc in an antec isk-600m case. Thanks to the low rpm's, they are dead silent. So long as you have a good air flow strategy for your build, these will push enough air to keep you happy with your thermals.

Cons: They are pricey (but worth it). They may not fit your needs if you are in a situation where pushing lots of air is more important than the noise levels.

Overall Review: If you are purchasing several of these and plan to use a fan controller, be aware that these fans already run at very low rpm's. Turning down those rpm's with a controller can actually cause the fan to stop. I have noticed this behavior with 2 different fan controllers. The same may be possible using pwm controls through the bios, but I have never turned them below 100%, so I can't say for sure. But really, they are so quiet, turning the rpm down is rather pointless.

Does the job

TOSHIBA DT01ACA200 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
TOSHIBA DT01ACA200 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Does what I want it to do. I'm using it as a media storage drive and have had no problems after several months of use.

Cons: Depending on what you are using it for, it may be somewhat slow.

Overall Review: Do yourself a favor and know what you intend to use a drive for before purchasing. I use this as media storage drive, so it doesn't get accessed continuously, therefore the somewhat slow speeds and the noise of a mechanical drive are not factors. If this was an OS drive, I would look elsewhere.
