Antec Classic B

Antec Cooling Pad NOTEBOOK COOLER CLASSIC B
Antec Cooling Pad NOTEBOOK COOLER CLASSIC B

Pros: Has kept my laptop cool for almost a year now. Like the 2-speed option. Black goes great with my laptop.

Cons: Needs an option to turn off the blue LED light... The rubber feet where the laptop sits on could be a bit narrower to be more compatible with more laptops.

Overall Review: I like the idea that it pulls heat downwards away from the laptop. Not so clear about whether or not this is actually better than other coolers that blow air upwards towards the laptop. Nevertheless, it definitely does cool it down. Had to return it

TRENDnet TEW-650AP Wireless N150 18 dBm Access Point, WDS, Repeater and AP Client Bridge
TRENDnet TEW-650AP Wireless N150 18 dBm Access Point, WDS, Repeater and AP Client Bridge

Pros: Small, compact

Cons: It seemed like it wanted to work, but actually made things worse...Bought this for a friend in another state as a solution to a wireless dead spot in her room in the basement. 1) Included manual is not very extensive in telling you how to set it up with the many different functionalities that it claims to have. It is just a basic setup as far as I understand. Had to go to Trendnet's website to get the full, most up-to-date manual. Friend was wanting it as a repeater, and that is where we found the instructions. 2) When setting it up as a repeater as instructed (AP Mode Support), the unit somehow made everything not work...it knocked out her wireless connection altogether, and I have no idea why that happened. After unplugging the TEW-650AP and doing a HARD reset on the host router, wifi was restored. We tried it a second time. Again, no more wifi! Both times it happened after setting the TEW-650AP to "AP Mode Support", entering the MAC of the router, and changing the SSID/wireless encryption/wireless channel of TEW-650AP to exactly match the router's.

Overall Review: I'm not an expert, but I don't think the TEW-650AP should be able to kill the wifi signal from any router, but apparently it did. I told my friend it was a defective product and I sent it back to Newegg. Maybe it really was a dud, I don't know. If it were me, I'd definitely try to work with it more and call Trendnet's customer service, since they seem to be very responsive to customer feedback here on Newegg. My friend didn't want to go through the hassle, so just had me return it and get something else. To replace it, I got the "NETGEAR WN1000RP-100NAS Wi-Fi Booster for Mobile" Item #: N82E16833122483. I was in town for the weekend, so I actually set it up for her. It worked right out of the box, but she has been complaining about the connection to her iPhone 5. Hopefully it works out, but that's beyond this review. Because it caused a lot of trouble, I was only gonna give 1 egg, but I'm adding an extra one because previous reviews suggest that Trendnet has good service. Their website is resourceful. I even found an "emulator" for the web configuration interface for the TEW-650AP on their website. It was very helpful as I guided my friend on how to set this thing up. If interested, just google "TEW-650AP emulator" and it should come right up. I'm not one to usually give up on a product, but it was not my decision. Wish I could have worked with this product more. Unfortunately I have to give a negative review, but as I said, I probably got a defective product, which happens every now and then.

Lap Chill Mat

Targus Lap Chill Mat AWE5504US

Pros: Able to use in bed/on the couch/on your lap

Cons: No complaints thus far

Overall Review: I haven't actually used it myself. I bought it for my gf's mom. She seems to love it. Says it makes having her laptop on her lap more comfortable. Haven't had any complaints, so I think we have a winner. Too bad it's out of stock atm. Hopefully it isn't discontinued because I was thinking about buying another

Great stuff

Arctic Silver Arcticlean Thermal material Remover & Surface Purifier ACN-60ML (2-PC-SET)

Pros: Cleans the old stuff right off, with minimal effort!

Cons: Didn't make me breakfast

Overall Review: Made my CPU look so shiny! Really does make it so much easier to clean and prep the CPU for new paste. Used this on my laptop's AMD APU and it was fast and simple! Totally worth it IMO.

G.SKILL 4GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model F3-10600CL9S-4GBSQ

Pros: Brought my laptop from 6GB to 8GB RAM. WEI Graphics went up from 6.4 to 6.7! (See below) 30-second install with no problems posting or booting up. Recognized no problem.

Cons: None! (yay!)

Overall Review: I did purchase this from Newegg, just not from this website. I got it from Newegg via e*Bay because I had a significant amount of e*Bay bucks that I wanted to use. WEI for Memory did not go up (stayed at 7.3), but I didn't expect it to. I also did not expect my WEI Graphics to increase, but it did! I suppose my integrated GPU appreciated it. HP's manual says AMD version of this laptop only supports up to 8GB RAM, while the INTEL version supports up to 16GB...WHY?!?!?!?! Oh well, I'm happy with this purchase. Rosewill Backpack RBF-540L

Rosewill Black 10"-16" Notebook BackPack Model RBF-540L
Rosewill Black 10"-16" Notebook BackPack Model RBF-540L

Pros: Good padding for my laptop. Very large and spacious. Rectangular shape isn't particularly stylish, but useful for fitting more stuff! Lots of compartments...everywhere...for all of my stuff!

Cons: The seams that hold the velcro strap for the laptop shows signs of wear (apprx 6mos later). Water-bottle holders also are wearing out (mesh is fraying/tearing), but I do put bottles that are too large into them.

Overall Review: The strap adjustor on one side broke, but because I slammed my car door on it. Otherwise, it probably wouldn't have broken! Too bad this has been discontinued. I liked this backpack, and would buy it again.
