Works great for an APU

AMD A10-6800K Richland 4.1 GHz (4.4GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core Desktop Processor - Black Edition AMD Radeon HD 8670D
AMD A10-6800K Richland 4.1 GHz (4.4GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core Desktop Processor - Black Edition AMD Radeon HD 8670D

Pros: CPU/APU built into one. Not bad. I don't like how hot it runs, all my temp programs says idle at 50c, re-seated the APU multiple times using Cooler Master Sedion 120v and Artic Silver. Hasn't locked up but the temps show they have reached 75-80c during long gaming runs and CPU stress tests...

Cons: Temps run high, but it isn't bad, aftermarket fans can be turned low and it's silent or purrs when under load. Cool n Quiet for the win! I am afraid to overclock it very much due to the idle and stress temps it reads. Could just be a bad sensor on my mobo... but 4.5ghz and 2400nb with 2133mhz memory isn't bad.

Overall Review: I eventually added a GPU with more kick for better framerates. And of course, now I am thinking I should have gone CPU/GPU vs the APU route. Being my daughters pc, I didn't expect her to game much... but the apple doesn't fall far from the tree haha! Still runs nice though.

Ummmm

RAIDMAX Blade ATX-298WBP Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply
RAIDMAX Blade ATX-298WBP Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply

Pros: Clean case, light weight but still has good body to it, i.e. doesn't feel cheap. Like the front 5.25" drive bay enclosures with removable clips. Came with a power supply, but this is a deterrence - see below for more on that...

Cons: Just because the manufacturer includes a power supply, doesn't mean the power supply is like other Raidmax's. I have bought many Raidmax power supplies and had minimal expectations since it came with one free. But this power supply is cheap, really cheap. The power cord for the sata drives doesn't even reach to the top two or three bays. Who does that? The fan is really loud, annoying, very annoying. I would have bought a case and power supply separately but Newegg only had one case that I liked in local stock. One out of 25. So I bought this combo. Needless to say, I will be buying another power supply.

Great RAM scott!

G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-2133C10D-8GSR
G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-2133C10D-8GSR

Pros: Haven't tried to overclock it, don't need to... Runs cool, runs perfect, going on 3years, no glitches... Short, easy to install, easy recognized by bios.

Cons: nothing??

Overall Review: I took a chance on GSkill, thought I would go budget ram for an APU inexpensive build. Always used Corsair or Kingston before, GSkill worked out great.

The mobo ok, but MSI service TOP NOTCH!

MSI FM2-A85XA-G43 FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
MSI FM2-A85XA-G43 FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: This mobo has all your everyday items for a basic or slightly advanced user, on board video, on board audio, usb 3.0, raid... easily overclockable. MSI's technical support and service is wonderful! I am giving it 5 eggs but they really need to remove the windows bios updater to prevent bad flashes. Middle of the road as far as features go, great mobo. Though, I couldn't get Cool n Quiet working properly...

Cons: Why don't motherboard manufacturers provide fan controls for all fan ports? Silly, just CPU, Sys1 and Sys2. but Sys3 is 100% all the time??? Sure I can buy a 3rd party device, but why can't they just make it a standard! DO NOT USE THEIR WINDOWS BIOS UPDATER! Fried my bios. I was just over the 2 year mark when I was working on getting Cool n Quiet enabled. Figured I would flash the bios to the latest. Their Bios update comes packaged where you have to run it to extract it on a flash drive while in windows. But stop there and go into Bios to update it, don't use their Live Update or the program within the package! I blame myself though, I know better...

Overall Review: I thought I was dead in the water, I did the unthinkable and flashed the bios in windows only to have it corrupt it. Fans turned on, 2 short beeps, nothing could load a new bios, amiboot.rom on usb or cd, nothing. Called tech support and they recommended I ship it in for them to fix, evidently it was still under warranty. Their RMA center is 14 miles from my house, I drove it there and they swapped it for the next level motherboard! FM2-A85XA-G65 can you say THX AUDIO! nice! Also, Cool n Quiet worked right away on this board. I love not being able to hear my pc on! WOW! SAME DAY SERVICE! I take back all the bad things I ever said about MSI haha! They flashed the new mobo's bios to the latest before giving it to me too! The board went in like a charm and I was up and running faster than I ever had been. Thank you MSI! I am grateful for living so close to their RMA center, it probably wouldn't have been as pleasant of an experience if I lived in another state...

better than stock and priced right.

Cooler Master Seidon 120V - Compact All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 120mm Radiator and Fan
Cooler Master Seidon 120V - Compact All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 120mm Radiator and Fan

Pros: Small, easy to fit into almost any system. Inexpensive. Quieter than the stock cooler/fan.

Cons: I don't really see my temperatures improved from the stock cooler. I realize that in bios, the motherboard runs its components at high, but the temps start at about 40'ish and creep up to 65? Thats when the fan kicks in full speed. In windows, it seems to work fine, but again, can't really measure it having better cooling power. Only came with one fan for a push method, reviews show an improvement with a push/pull so I may add another fan and see what that does.

Overall Review: I did realize that my psu was kicking on high at times, ordered another since it was pretty loud when it did. Waiting for it to come in, hopefully it was just an issue with the cheap psu. but either way, not blown away by this cooler. Rating it 4 eggs due to the price including the rebate, was very affordable and its a lot quieter than the stock fan.

Wow, great PSU!

EVGA 500 B1 100-B1-0500-KR 80+ BRONZE 500W Includes FREE Power On Self Tester Power Supply

Pros: Quiet! No issues, no hassles! All the cabling for a basic pc and more! Netting on wires, not sure if you would call it insulation but definitely looks cool and keeps your wires managed easier.

Cons: none!

Overall Review: I bought a simple inexpensive case that came with a power supply for a simple workstation; the psu roared like a freakin jet turbine. After buying this psu and installing it, I can't even hear the pc on! it runs cool, silent, stable, what more could you ask for?? Never again will I purchase a case that comes with a power supply... I am buying the EVGA 600 B for my daughters gaming pc!
