Good fan

Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators (Smoke Color)
Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators (Smoke Color)

Pros: Quiet, but still audible at 100%

Cons: Not huge air mover, but moves enough Quieted by cutting speed to 50%, now inaudible!

Overall Review: I wish I had 2 more of these. I used it as a replacement for my PSU fan. I'd like to have 2 more as case fans. Update: Ordered another, added as a case fan. Likewise, reduced speed 50%; it is inaudible unless I put my head by it. Good soft airflow. Update April 2018: After 4.5 years, no bearing noise. Still working perfectly.

works well, with some tinkering - update: slowing down - update again: Seriously slowing down, crashing

ASUS Transformer Book Flip TP200SA-UHBF 2-in-1 Laptop Intel Celeron N3050 (1.60 GHz) 32 GB eMMC Intel HD Graphics Shared memory 11.6" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: Thin and light. fast enough, stable Pretty. I mostly use productivity software and I find the keyboard and trackpad quite usable. Amazing screen, bright and yet thin for a touchscreen!

Cons: The screen is a bit wobbly, but not a big deal. The SSD is nearly full, rectified with adding a 64 GB SD card and configuring as D drive; moved docs, pics etc folders to it. I had to RMA the first unit for a defective sd slot; I guess they didn't check that when they refurbed. The touchpad wouldn't work on the second unit. The driver was already installed, but it didn't work until I installed the special asus trackpad software - fixed! (this is why I took off one star; why would they make a trackpad that doesn't work without bloatware?) It also came with someone else's profile active (security?!?) so I reset the operating system to default.

Overall Review: Absolutely fantastic value as a refurb. Refurb may mean a bit of work resetting windows. The weak Celeron 3050 was a concern, but it seems to be okay. If you want a thin and light portable unit, this is the baby for you. EDIT Oct 2017: System is now giving constant warnings about the need to free up storage space. I have only a few GB of apps; Windows 10 is the culprit, using over 17 GB. All the methods I can find online reduced it from the previous 19GB to the current 17 GB. All other efforts fail to reduce its footprint. I'm not sure why it's so big, since my sister's Dell only uses 8GB for Windows 10. A 64GB SSD would be much less likely to have this issue. Update Nov 2018: This unit is seriously slowing down, crashing, and filling the HDD more and more over time due to Windows 10 updates. The computer would be okay if it wasn't for MS bloating Windows 10 continuously. Took away stars. EDIT March 2018: Windows updates kept filling the C: drive, till I had only 1 GB free. Cleaned 32GB C: drive and re-installed latest 64 bit Windows 10 and C: drive now has 12 GB free. Reinstalled all drivers & apps, moved Desktop, Music, Documents, etc to the 64GB SD card. Ended up with 10 GB still free. It works much better than before. Also set for maximum performance and enlarged the virtual memory size to 4GB.

Great little convertable! Great value.

Acer 10.1" Aspire Switch Laptop 2GB 32GB | SW5-012-192E - Certified Refurbished (Manufacturer Recertified)

Pros: Update: Had my Switch 10 for 9 months now. After a recent update, the power-on issue went away. Not sure why. Also, battery life has greatly improved after OS updates, disabling some background apps (as Windows suggested!) and adjusting power settings. I had been getting maybe 2.5 hours of use on a charge; I now get a solid 4 hours. ---- We've had the Switch 10 for a few days now. It looked like new when we opened it. Booted quickly into Win8.1 without issue. Well-built solid little convertable; impressive for the price point! Magnetic latches for tablet portion are great. Keyboard feels good for typing, pretty good mechanical feedback. Love the full-size USB jack on the keyboard portion; with an OTG dongle, I have 2 USB jacks to use. The 10" screen is clear and bright; I'm using it at 50%. It's only JUST big enough to use as a laptop; I wish it was 11". Speakers are much louder than my Yoga 11. The z3535f atom processor has enough guts and stays cool. The lack of a fan means it's absolutely silent. I installed Office 2010 and Watchtower Library and they work flawlessly. Battery life is good; I can use it all day and evening for light use without plugging it in. I don't play computer games so I can't comment on gaming performance (I know that sounds hipster, but computer games mess with my brain) I'm _seriously_ considering buying another one of these and retiring my 8" tablet.

Cons: Trackpad is good for moving the cursor, but is _very_ sensitive to taps. The result is that I had to turn off tap-to-click to prevent it from moving the cursor all over the place when I'm typing. The trackpad buttons are also quite stiff and the touch function extends into the buttons; it's difficult to keep the cursor where you want it when clicking. A bluetooth mouse will make Switch 10 more usable. LOADS of bloatware. The 32GB drive is a bit small; adding an SD card fixes that. I wish the screen was a little bigger. Had to set desktop to 125% to read some of the text. Occasionally takes a few presses of the power button to get it to turn on when it's shut down. Loses an egg for trackpad and bloatware.

Overall Review: Windows 10 Upgrade: Was a bit of a pain to upgrade to Windows 10, because the online Windows 10 tool doesn't work with this model for some reason. I used my desktop (in admin mode!) to download the system to a USB drive and install locally. I needed to use an SD card for the Win10 upgrade as well, because the installer creates a 10GB rollback image when installing; there wasn't that much space on the SSD. You can remove the SD card after install and just leave the image on it in case you want to revert to Win8.1 After upgrading to Win10, you can then do a clean reinstall to clean out all of the bloatware as I did (you need to the upgrade first and then do a reinstall to prevent license key issues).

Works well after a year

Silicon Power 128GB Elite microSDXC UHS-I/U1 Class 10 Memory Card with Adapter, Speed Up to 75MB/s (SP128GBSTXBU1V20BT)

Pros: Been in constant use in an acer switch 10 for almost a year. No issues, nice and fast, reliable. I have a 64 GB SDXC card with faster ratings, but I don't notice any difference in use. These cards are often faster than the interface in the device, IME.

Cons: None

Overall Review: 117 GB when measured as ^2; as 1024 bytes per kilobyte, as the computer measures it, rather than as 1000 bytes per kilobyte, as all manufacturers measure storage devices. When there is nothing wrong with an item, please give it five eggs. And if Newegg messes up, don't punish the product. Bugs me to see reviews with a 3 or 4 eggs rating but the text gives no cons whatsoever...

Limited WiFi connections

ZyXEL NWA1123-NI - Wireless access point - 802.11a/b/g/n Dual Band (NWA1123-NI)

Pros: Great range, speed

Cons: Limited WiFi connections Needs additional injector to use PoE

Overall Review: At times, we have 50+ connections to WiFi. At a certain point, devices will connect but cannot transmit any data. When we restart the WAP it seems to correct the issue for a while. When there are fewer connections, say 10-20, the WAP works flawlessly.
